I put Evan and James to bed in cotton pajamas (usually 2-piece PJs, the kind without feet) and a sleep sac. We keep our house around 22-23 degrees celsius (I guess that's around 73 degrees in fahrenheit) but our gas bill was $162 for last month alone (yikes!) so I guess I should be turning down the house temp. Just wondering what everyone else is doing. I'm in Toronto and it's quite cold. Our house is 80+ years old and not well insulated.

We live in Central Illinois and our house was built in 1894 (114 years ago) and lets just say that the insulation must be original (not very good).

We keep our house heat set at 64-65 degrees F at night the kids just wear sweats, and a long sleeve shirt, or footed blanket sleepers and use blankets.........everyone stays warm enough........during the day, everyone is running around and no one seems to be cold.

When the babies were small enough (to fit in sleep sacks) they wore that same thing as now, just instead of blankets, they wore sleep sacks and a lighter blanket.

The kiddos rooms have a seperate heating system and I keep their temperature at 68 F. They sleep in fleece footed jammies and dd is in a sleep sack and ds has a blanket. I've found that their feet get cold, so I also put socks on under their footies. The rest of the house is at 64F during the night. :)

I must be a wussy compared to you all!! We have a 2 story home, built in 1890, completely remodeled (walls and everything, just the frame was left) in 2000-2001. We have a seperate unit for upstairs and downstairs, we keep our downstairs at 76 and our upstairs at 73. Our girls sleep in the Carter's pjs with feet and a heavy blanket. Our house is always cold for some reason, I think it's b/c of the floors and we have leaky windows and doors. And dont even ask me what our electic bill is...OWWW!!!

I forgot, I live in southern Indiana...

Our house must not be insulated well. We keep it around 74 at night and they wear a onsie and fleece footed pjs to bed.

We keep our house at 68 during the day (but sometimes I bump it up to 70) and 65 at night. We have an extra electric radiator heater in the babies' room that we keep on at night, so their room always stays at about 68 - 70. They wear some kind of cotton or fleece PJ or gown, plus a cotton or fleece swaddle wrap, and usually an extra flannel receiving blanket on top. I sometimes think they're too warm, but DH is always putting another blanket on them if I leave it off.

Omg!!! I WISH our bill was that low!!! We live in NY. Since the girls were born, we have pretty much always kept the house at 72 degrees farenheit (about the same as yours) in both summer and winter. We have central air so it stays pretty consistent and gets pretty expensive (I think we pay an average of $350-$450/month in the winter). Our ped said that 72 was too warm for them and that we should put the temp to 65 degrees so we recently started to put it to 70 degrees because their room is always a good 5 degrees colder than ours. Our girls slept only in footy pjs until a few months ago. In summer they would wear the light cotton footies with a cotton sleep sack and in the winter they either wear the cotton footies or the fleece ones with the fleece sleep sack depending on just how cold it is. When it is in the 20's (F) and lower, we do the fleece footies with fleece sleep sack. When it is a little warmer (like tonight it is in the 30's) we do either cotton footies or 2 piece cotton jammies (like tonight) with socks and the fleece sleep sack.

We keep our home set at 69f-70f year round. OK so we are living in pretty mild weather (today was in the 40s). I still have my AC on. How embarrassing?? We live in a second floor condo and the little old lady below us ( God help her for patience with twins above her) keeps it SOOO hot in her condo. We turned the heat on ONE night last year. Pretty comfy!!

My gas bill is also ridiculously high! I live on the 3rd floor too so I shouldnt have to have my heat as high but the 2nd floor is vacant right now so its a lot cooler here this year. I live in New England and its freezing here.

I keep my apartment 68-70 at all times. My girls sleep in nightgowns, socks and swaddled on warmer nights, and on cooler nights or if they have a bath they sleep in a one-piece feety sleeper or sleepsack, and swaddled.
It is cooler in our room though because of the cool mist humidifier. I am always taking clothes off in the night so by morning I usually just have jammie pants and a sports bra on.
The girls always feel nice and warm when I feed them or change their diaper in the night, but if they manage to get a hand free from the swaddle then it is cold.

We live in New Hampshire and it's bben freezing! Anyway, we keep our heat between 68-70, sometimes we lower it. We sahould lower it more becasue the cost of oil is outrageous! I recenly heard that if you lower your thermostat by 2 degrees that you will save 10% on your heating bill. I might try this! Since I'm the only one who is ever bothered when it feels cold, I try to wear sock/slippers and a sweater or robe instead of cranking the heat. I do turn it up when DH isn't home and then I turn it down before he gets home! :p

We live in a southwest suburb of Chicago. We leave the thermostat around 68-70 degrees. The boys end up wanting to sleep in their boxer/briefs and undershirts (if we're lucky...they usually strip to just underwear).

It's fairly warm in Atlanta, but it can be 20's or 30's at night in the winter. We keep our heat on 70 most of the time, and the babies wear long-sleeved onesies plus fleece sleep sacks to bed.

With that, our heating bill in the winter is between $300 and $400 a month, depending on how cold it is outside. But, our house is a little more than 5,000 square feet, so it's a lot of space to heat.

our house is 66 yrs olds and need to be re insolated too... we keep ours at 70 degrees... DH is a HVAC sales rep and he says that changing your tem pin the house more than 2 degrees at a time take lots of money to change it so if you do it all the time it cost more.... Here is Central Mo its cold but we stay warm just wear socks and sweats...in the summer the air is on 74-76

I live in Michigan. Our house has lots of new insulation and we set the temp at 66-68 degrees when it's really cold. That's actually very comfortable in our home. DH is a good insulator ;) . We put them in long sleeved pajamas with feet and a halo blanket sleep sack with swaddle. They stay toasty warm that way :) .

We are not in Canada but we keep the house a lot colder than you do because keeping it any warmer really increases the electricity bill. In our house it is 67-68 degrees farenheight during the day and 61 at night. We kept it at a similar temperature when the girls were babies and we lived in California. As babies, we've always dressed the kids in socks, footed pajamas, and a Halo sleepsack. If the pajamas are fleece, then the sleepsack is cotton or polyester. If the pajamas are cotton, then we use our fleece sleepsack.
