I know that having a room too warm can increase the chance of sids. What is the happy medium temperature where the babies will be warm enough? I dont want them to get cold, and I dont want to (will not) pile a ton on blankets on them...just wondering what your thoughts on this were...TIA!

I like to keep my boys' room warm enough that they don't need blankets..just footie pjs. We live in a very old house that needs to be re-insulated very badly, so we have to use space heaters to keep the room at the right temp. We set it for between 65-70 degrees every night.
Fleece sleepers, sleep sacks, those are all great at keeping the little ones warm when it's cold, that way you don't have to use blankets.
    Hope that helps...

I was swaddling at that age, so between that and a footed sleeper they didn't need much heat. I kept/keep thier rooms around 68-70.

yep 68-70 here too, and they keep each other pretty cozy if they sleep together

I try to keep their room around 70 degrees. I put them in footed fleecy pj's at night to try to keep them warmer. Sometimes, however, their little hands feel cool when they get up in the morning and it makes me feel terrible. I hate that you can't use blankets!

In the winter, we keep the heat on 70, and I put the babies in long-sleeved onesies, plus fleece sleep sacks.

We swaddled at that age also. When we stopped swaddling we switched to cotton footed pjs and cotton sleepsacks. We thought we would switch to fleece sleepsacks in the winter, but they seemed to be too hot. We keep our temp between 66 and 68.

We keep the heat at 67 during the day and 65 at night. At night I put the beebs to bed in footed jammies with socks and a sleep sack.

My ped told me that their hands might feel a little cold, but as long as their tummy (their core) is warm, then you know they are warm enough. I always check their tummy in the morning and haven't needed to adjust the clothing they sleep in.

I believe they suggest between 65-68 to help prevent SIDs.

We put the temp at 72 and also use blankets. I got an impressions from this thread not use blankets. could anyone explain why we should not use blankets?

It's because having any loose bedding in the crib puts babies at risk for suffocation. The safest way to sleep is with a firm crib mattress and a snug-fitting sheet. (It's ok to swaddle snugly, though, as long as the blanket can't get loose and nothing could cover the babies' faces.)

We keep the house at 70 (used to turn it down to 62 at night, but it's too cold for the babies), and dress them in long-sleeved pjs and fleece sleep sacks. When they were tiny, we'd put them in long-sleeved pjs and then swaddle.

GL! It's kind of confusing in the beginning, but it won't be long til you develop the superpower 6th sense of knowing exactly how warmly to dress them...
