So, now that my babies are over 6 months old and the weather is getting NICE... I can start putting sunscreen on my cherubs... But, I don't know what to buy! What are you all using for sunscreen? Preferably, I'd like something for UVA and UVB protection that is easy to apply and non-greasy (they're hard enough to hold when they're not all slippery).

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

When they were young last summer I used the Baby Mustela that I got at Babies R Us. This year I have just been using the spray on Water Babies and I am impressed with how well it works. Have fun in the sun. Dont forget a nice sun hat too ;)

Water Babies here, too. And you can get some cute sunglasses to go with that sun hat if you want!

[SIZE=10pt]Well, we live in WA, so we haven't had a lot of sun yet (keeping my fingers crossed that it will come ;) )

I bought Water Babies SPF 50 for summer...it's what our PEDI recommended

    April :)

I found coppertone 70+ in a spray and I really liked it though it was sticky. I just bought the Water Babies 50+ in a spray so will try that. We are extremely pale in this family, not sure if it is the French or Irish blood in me!

Same here, plus a sun hat. I wish they would tolerate sunglasses on their faces for more than 5 seconds, but they'd much rather chew on them instead :p

I have always used the Avon one that has the insect repellant, since we live in a humid area. I also do sun hats and sunglasses.

We use the NO-AD 45+. It is great because it is not sticky and I notice it lasts a while. Also like everyone said....hats

Thanks. They do wear Baby Banz, and I just got DD a sun hat, and DS has his ball cap!! :) I'll post a pic on the main thread of them in their shades.. The cutest things!

We see our Pedi on Monday. If I can remember, I'll ask him what he recommends too... Maybe he'll have free samples!! :)

    Thanks for your advice.

My DD had a horrible reaction after getting sunscreen in her eyes at around 20 months! We were at the zoo, and suddenly her eyes were watering profusely, turning beet red, and gunk was coming out of them. Ever since then, I've used Banana Boat's Tear-free spf50 for kids - great stuff, no tears!!

spray on banana boat for babies. TEAR FREE.
Make sure it says tear free. I know, we assume all baby lotion is tear free- oh, so not true!!

A couple of my kids have broken out with the typical baby brands. I use Nutrogena. When do you all begin using it? 4 mo. too early?

We use Aveeno Baby SPF 55 (pedi okayed sunscreen use - I think the recommendation recently changed).

i spoke to my ped about this because DS gets a rash from most of them out there he said to use a brand called blue lizard. he said even most dermatologist reccomend it. it's good and you could even put it on newborns that's how gentle it is and it works great. he told me to lather them up always when going out about a half hour before. if in the pool make sure i keep putting it on them every hour to be safe since the water removes the sunblock in time.
