My son will be four by the time the babies come, I know he walks alot of the time but when walking around town or the mall he likes to jump in the stroller for a while. So now they'll be two more in a stroller, the triplet strollers seem very large and kind of a waist since my son probably wont sit there alot. Babies R Us has the twin stroller then with the stand/sit feature in the back for an older child but it's kind of ugly and over $400. What have others done with their older toddler and the new babies=)

Mine got to walk. To be fair, though, I don't do a lot of mall shopping.

My little guy will only be 3, but we'll be using a Lasco kiddy or buggy board. It is a platform that attaches to the back of a stroller, so older kids can catch a ride.

The kiddy board attches like shown, and the buggy board has a different attachment. They work the same, it just depends on what stroller you have.
I would definitely pick your stroller first, then make sure one of these attachments fits. I have also thought that I could wear one of the babies and let DS ride if need be.

Walking here too! :D My dd will be 2.5 but she much prefers to walk already. If we do go somewhere like the zoo or something, both dh and I will be there and one can push the twins in the side by side and one can push the little umbrella stroller for her....altho the last zoo trip my 6 yr old used the umbrella stroller more than she did!

Another option is to put one baby in a sling or other carrier when you are going to be walking for a while. That leaves a seat open for DS. I have also seen small twins laying down together in one seat in a stroller (with the seat all the way reclined). If you did this with a tandem, then DS could still sit in the front. This would only work when the babies are very small though.

I asked this question over in the triplet plus large fam forum. They had some great ideas. There were things out there I had never heard of. Pop over and take a look.

PS I found those moms are a great source. We will have 5 kids but I don't fell like thats a real big family but I have found great ideas and tips there that only an experienced large family would know.

the joovy caboose was an awesome idea 2 seats and sit/stand o n the back but it didnt fit in my trunck. the boogy board dosnt work on my grace stroller because the basket come out to far, not enough room on the board for him to stand,
so i have to get to wrist straps, that attach from stroller to there wrists, my 4yr old stays with us, my 2 yr old doesnt,
    good luck
