Just wondering what the average shoe size is for kids around 20 months. I'm shoe shopping today for the girls and I'm not sure what size to get. They're wearing a five now, with little to no room left.

There's a wide range of normal. I'd suggest having them measured at a shoe store or measuring them yourself (Stride Rite has a printable measuring device on their website). My boys were in a 6 then but were a 7 three months later.

My DD is in a 7 and my son is only in a 5 it all depends on your child. I go to a shoe store and they measure the foot and suggest going up a 1/2 size for them to grow into and then you really only need to buy them shoes every 3 months.
    Good luck

My DD is in a comfy 5 and DS is in a 6. I usually just take them with me and try them on them. Or I order from Pediped and just buy the next size (6-12, then 12-18 months, etc.). As a PP mentioned, getting them measured is a good idea. Shoes can be so expensive so not getting a pair with just enough room for growth can be costly.

Mine are 19 months. Lily wears a 5, Grace wears a 4. I think it totally depends on the child. If you take them with you Stride Rite will measure them.

Mine were both in 4s at that age. But they seem to have tiny, slow-growing feet.

If yours are already snug in a 5, I'd just get a 6.

Justin wear 5-1/2 shoes at 11.5 months
Rianna wear 4-1/2 shoes at 12 months

They both will be 13 months old tomorrow! Yay!

My girls are 20 months and are wearing a 6. Some of the brands in a 6 are still a little big, but the 5s are too small. I think the brand of the shoe makes a big difference. They seem to have pretty narrow feet which also makes it harder to find a shoe to fit well.

If they have little room left, I'd get a 6.

my babes will be 2 next week and
My dd wears a 5 (it's still quite roomy)
My ds wears a 6 (fits perfectly)

My girls are 24 m and wear a snug 5 or roomy 6. Most of the shoes for winter I bought in 6 1/2 for room to grow, thick socks etc...

Ok...I'm about to lower the average shoe size for 20 months. Ellie is 20 months + 9 days and wears a size 3. Her tennis shoes are a little big, but they work and she walks well in them. Sice she just started wearing 3s, it will be awhile before I have to hunt around for size 4s.

Emilie is in a 5 and Trevor a 6 (they have room to grow in that size) but mine were preemies so they may be a bit small.

My oldest DD was in a 7 at this time.

At 19m we are in size 4s or 5s (depending on the brand). Nick's feet are a good 1/2 size bigger than Joe's.

We also have tiny, slow-growing feet.

Mine are in a snug 6 or roomy 7. And it depends on the shoe brand. All my kids have wide feet so the shoes usually fits width-wise, but they have a little extra room in the toe. I tend to buy a little big so that they have room to grow.

My kids have tiny feet too. Bella is still wearing a 3, but a 4 will stay on if it ties or has a strap across the top. Josie is finally in a size 4. They are almost 21 months!
