I've seen my OB up until now and at 18 weeks all patients with multiples at Winchester Hospital have there Level 2 Ultrasound with the Peri and meet with him after. Is this protocol at your hospital if so what should i expect?

That seems to be how my OB handles things with her patients who are carrying multiples. She referred me to see an MFM on the 19th, which is my 20th week, and then go downstairs to meet back up with her afterwards.

I've been going to a peri since day one (b/c I did IVF and one of the amniotic sacs was smaller to begin with so they wanted to track it..thank God it's the same size as the other sac now), along wtih my OB.

From my experience going to the Peri is so much better. I get an u/s every single time. Their u/s machines are way more high-tech and they seem to be much more experienced with twin pregnancies, complications, etc. I feel more confident with him than with my OB.

The Level II u/s for me wasn't all that much different than the Nuchal Translucency u/s. Just a lot of pictures and measuring. It took about a half hour, maybe 45 minutes. Then they go over the results. Luckily mine looked fine so there wasn't anything to review in much depth, however I would imagine if there is something that they need to look at more closely or track with you then the conversation would be much longer. Basically they are looking to make sure all the organs and limbs are there in the correct spots and appear to be functioning correctly. I think it's the most important u/s you have throughout your entire pregnancy.

Good luck! I'm sure you will be fine!

i had my level 2 u/s at 23 weeks. They measured everything in both babies. Bones, internal organs, head size, checked the hearts, made sure the blood flow to thier cords and brains were good, counted toes, measured fluid.....you name it. And, my DH and i came away with alot of new pics. :D

My 20 week morphology scan took over 1 1/2 hours. My boys are mono/di and are having some issues so maybe that is why it took longer. It is the 'big' scan and it should really give you an idea of how your babies are developing. And you should be able to find out sexes if you want.
I only had to drink half a litre half an hour before, so much better than 1 litre 1 hour before! And unlike other drs, I have found u/s usually run to time.

That's when my OB starting send me to MFM too. I see them every 4 weeks in between my regular OB visits.
The first one, they did the big u/s and then continue to do growth u/s at the subsequent appointments.

I guess it depends on you Dr? I start w/ Peri at 12 weeks and go every 3-4 weeks. Good luck, I really enjoy those apts b/c I find out so much about the babies. I love to hear how they are growing and where they are at currently!
