What should I do?

My girls are 4 1/2 mo. old and we were only swaddling with one arm in but recently went back to the full swaddle because they were waking themselves up with their hands. It is summer and warm here and I would really like to quit swaddling but that just isn't going to work for us right now. Their sleep is all over the place from very occas. STTN to waking 4 and 5 times a night to be re-swaddled. I can't seem to find any bigger blankets that aren't heavy. We currently use receiving blankets. When they wake during the night it is almost ALWAYS because they broke out of their swaddle. We also just moved them to their own cribs and the first 2 night went well, only one waking, but last night I was up 4 or 5 times between the both of them. Does anyone have any suggestions? We are also using a noise machine.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried BRU? I know they carry the lighter swaddles up a large size. For my dd, once she started breaking out it was over OR I could keep going in and reswaddle only to have break out of it again in ten minutes. I hope someone comes along with some suggestions. :hug99:

We bought SwaddleMe's by Kiddopotamus from BRU and our local Target. The babies occassionally get one hand out the top through the neck hole and have once or twice after some serious effort gotten one of the velcro tabs loose but for the most part it is keeping them in. I also heard lots of folks on here rave about Miracle blankets, but we haven't tried them yet.

We are in Houston - hot and humid. I keep the house down to 72 at night, and the boys are cozy in their pj's and the knit swaddleme's.

If you can find them, Miracle blankets are cotton and might work well for you. GL!

You can go to JoAnn's, or Hancocks, or even Walmart and buy some lightweight flannel, and make receiving blankets any size you want if you know how to sew. It only takes me about 10-15 minutes to make a receiving blanket.

The kiddopotomus swaddle blankets may work for you. My daughter can eventually fight her way out, but I think that's just her. So I'm going to try the Miracle Blanket. I'm still waiting for it to be shipped. But the kiddopotomus has worked well up to this point, and it's lightweight. I have it in a size large - it's really big. Says it fits up to 20 lbs I think?

I forgot to mention before that I ordered the Miracle blanket from miracleblanket.com and it has a money back guarantee even if it's been washed and used.

The Miracle Blanket is awesome. We used that until they outgrew them, around 6-7 months. They could break out of the SwaddleMe by Kiddopatomus, but not the MB. They're expensive, but we just bought one for each baby and washed them a lot.

Since it's hot, you can put them just in a diaper and then the swaddle blanket. That might help them from getting too warm.
