I am trying to find out what would be the best for Kendra and Maliyah, when they go outside to play with friends they are left behind because they only have one leg. We bought them bike, but they can't really ride them on the grass or up a small hill(like a driveway). I need to be better about praticing with their crutches I know that will help. What can I do before they master those crutches?

    TIA

First of all Erin it is sooo good to see you back on TS! I've thought about you alot lately. Hope all is well with you and your beautiful family.

To answer your question...... How about one of those battery operated power wheels? My kids got one for their birthday this year and they love it. It is a Tractor and it seats two. They take turns "driving" it. It would only require one foot to push the pedal so they could do it, and it is easy to get in and out of it. The only problem is it is they can be pricey depending on the model you get. ( they have one that is a red Ford Mustang .....so pretty :)

Anyway, that was the only thing I could come up with. Hope that helps.....God Bless.

The hotwheel thing is a really good idea. Or could they use a skateboard?

You have such a unique situation, and I'm having a hard time coming up with something that would work - though I love the Power Wheels idea! I wonder if your Physical therapist knows of anything that would help them when they're playing?

It is so good to see you back - I think of your beautiful family often. I think your children have shown such grace & courage. A powerwheels would put them at the head of the pack, but they wouldn't get any exercise or make progress mastering their crutches. I would get them a battery operated ride-on for some outings & encourage them to use their crutches on others. They were so agile & strong before their surgery - I am sure they will be getting around like little daredevils before too long. Bless their little hearts!
