What should I buy? PLEASE HELP!

My girls b-day is coming up around the time my new baby is due and this is the first year they have been old enough to really tell me what they want. They told me they wanted a "doll set" of a mom, dad, and two little girls. Sounded simple enough...I went searching everywhere and couldn't find anything that I thought they would really want in a good price range (yeah, don't have like $75 for a couple Barbie dolls).

I really need some suggestions...all I could think of was Barbie and Loving Family. Is there anything else out there that might have a mom, dad, and child dolls? I know I will probably have to buy a piece here and piece there rather than one giant boxed set but I'm having a heck of a time! I literally spent almost 2 hours tonight searching Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc....*sigh* getting really discouraged!!! Esp. since the last few "big" things we bought for them that they said they wanted they didn't wind up playing with and was literally like $100 down the drain. :unknw:

 

Hmm...I have no idea! The best I could come up with is Barbie or Loving Family. I hope you get some ideas!

 

Most of these have a boy and a girl child, but I'm sure you could double up on the child and just save the boy child until your boy baby is delivered.

They aren't necessarily dolls, but what about Callico Critters? I am pretty sure you can get a family in those and I don't think they are too expensive.

 

I'd get Barbies.

Slumber set plus Ken - $35ish

Or this if she wants two little girls (it's showing at $26 right now), plus the Ken above and a Barbie (they have some at $13 on amazon as well).

Quite sure you can just buy the sisters alone at Toys'r Us for like $7, and they have a lot of other options. But at least it's something you can easily build on as they get older. They don't have to know that they're her sisters and not her kid... lol.

They love them! They have a doll house that's big enough for Barbies, but had asked specifically for dolls that were smaller than the Barbies.

 

I have boys but my boys have a doll house and dolls. Its even pink. My husband thought I was nuts but the boys play with it all the time.

Anyway I got it off ebay. It is fisher price loving family. Came with 2 mom, 2 dad, 4 babies, 2 boy, 2 girl, grandmother plus furniture, two mini vans etc. and I got it all for $100. Used but very good condition. If you just want the family it would be a lot cheaper.

I have no issues buying presents off ebay for my two. If you look carefully you can find as good as new and it doesn't cost a small fortune.
