What PJs in the summer?

We keep our house pretty cool in the summer time. We usually set it between 71-75 year round. We live in the South, and it gets HOT during the summer. A/C will be running a good bit. I thought I would get them t-shirts and long, footless pants, but with our house being more on the cool side, what kind should I get? Jonah is very hot-natured just like his Daddy, but Morgan is just like me and constantly has cold feet.

Right now they are in their last few 6/9 month cotton footed sleepers. I bought some t-shirt/pant sets this weekend, but I'm taking them back because they were too small for Jonah's arms. (How that is possible I'll never guess...I bought 12 Month and Jonah is only 7.5 months...and they were Carter's. Go figure!)

Ideas? What do your kids wear at night during the summer?

mine are both very hot natured - they are sleeping in onesies right now and our house is on the cool side also -
I put a receiving blanket over them and they seem pretty comfy! but my girls do not roll yet so the blanket stays on them
    pretty well!

We keep our house pretty much the same temp as yours. Usually around 72 degrees. At night we dress them in either Fleece footy pjs with a onsie underneath or we use the thinner 2 piece pjs with the wearable fleece blanket.

We struggle with this topic as well in the hot summer months when we have the air conditioning running. Mostly we put them in onesies with long sleeved, long pant cotton pj's (like old navy ones) but on occassion will use the short sleeved ones (always long pants - not shorts) if it's really hot out. Ours sleep with blankies that they wrap around their shoulders at night so the short sleeves don't bother me. When we have the air cranked, we tend to put lightweight cotton socks on their bare tootsies too :)

    Good topic!!! Thanks!

We are in FL and we keep the air around the same temp as you at night. I put them in the fleece sleepers year-round! They won't keep a blanket on, so I figure that it's just like having a blanket on them.

Mine sleep in long pants and a long sleeve shirt. A few weeks ago I put socks on them too but the past few nights have been really nice so we have gone without socks.

Carter's has 2 different kinds... a snug fit which look really skinny and a comfy fit pj. My girls are pudgy and can't wear the snug fit. We usually go w/ a onesie and pants.

Thanks ladies! I've got to shopping for some new ones now. I'm going to see if I can find some of the footed pants type and the long pants type. Cold tooties is one of my big concerns for Morgan. And, my mother has me nervous about putting socks on them since one of her coworkers told her that socks are a choking hazard. Of course the day she tells me this, I walk into the nursery and Jonah has his sock in his mouth.

Thank you again for the suggestions. It's funny to me discussing this stuff, but I swear it's this kind of crap that keeps me up at night. I'm constantly checking toes if I let them sleep bare-footed. Ahh...Motherhood. :D

We still use the fleece blanket sleepers (with sleep sacks) in the summer. DH likes to keep the house very cool at night (like 60), so this way I don't worry about the girls being cold. (We have a swamp cooler that uses very little electricity, so it's a lot cheaper than AC. It also gets pretty cool here at night even in the summer.)

In general it frustrates me that summer jammies always have short sleeves! What I really want are some lightweight jammies with long sleeves, but I haven't found them yet, so we just use the sleepers.

BTW -- at that age (6-9 months) everything was too small for Sarah's arms as well. (She had very fat arms. :D )

I've been struggling with this, too. We live in Phoenix, where it's HOT, but DH likes to keep it pretty cool in the house ($$$)!
One of my boys is a sweaty baby, so I've been putting him in rompers until I can find sleepers with short sleeves, long pants and open feet. I found some at Old Navy that I think I might go get.

Sooo true Shannon! And if I were to try to discuss this with DH, he would say something like... Is this today's worry????

Anyway... just so you know.. I am so glad you asked. I am going home to the USA in a month and I am beginning to think about packing. Anyway, I had the same thought. My mom's and MIL's house are COLD in the summer and I was thinking about what pjs I should bring and if I should pack the fleece sleep sacks. Well, according to the answers you got, I will pack them. Might not end up using them, but I'll be upset if I don't have them.

Also, I find Carters tend to be small.

We live in the Central Valley of California and it gets really hot here, but because AC is so expensive we really don't let it go below 75 at night. So our boys sleep in either a short sleeved onesie or a t-shirt and a diaper. They have never complained and sleep through the night, so I guess they are comfortable!

I buy my boys the shorts and short sleeved PJ sets during the summer time. We alwas keep it between 68-70 in here. If not we all burn up! LOL

When they were yours' age, I put them in onesies, and a blanket over top of them.

We wore the cotton knit footed zipper jammies from Children's Place during the spring and early summer. Then we switched to the Carter's short sleeve shirt/long pant/short sets for the warmer months of July, August, and September.

nightgowns, onsies and socks here we have been running the AC here in MT already this year. We also do not use blankies at night unless it gets really cold. My big girls are just in nightgowns right now.
