I did the mixing 3/4 formula 1/4 milk and it was a no go. Now they have had cereal soaked in milk and they have had cream of wheat made with milk and were fine. Should I just give it to them cold turkey? Also we are on 1 bottle a day the rest sippy cups. When do I cut that bedtime bottle out? I know you have heard this before over and over but I would appreciate your responses. Thanks so much!!
Trisha, mine liked milk cold from the get go so I might not be the best person to answer! I would go cold turkey and they will get used to it! Keep feeding it in all that other stuff as well as cheese and eggs and you'll be fine!! Keep trying!! :hug99:
I would just jump in with both feet here. My guys have been "milking" it for over two months now (sorry for the pun ). If I had just gone forward with the milk in the bottles, it would have gone quicker. We switched from milk in bottles, to sippies, then no bottles. We still have the bedtime, and I hope to cut that out by 18 months the latest.
The day we stopped formula, we stopped bottles. My boys only ever got cold milk in a sippy, and we never looked back.
I mixed the milk/formula an oz at a time to get them acclimated (1 oz milk to 5 oz formula) and so on and the total transition took about a week and a half to 2 weeks....also they were down to just a morning and evening bottle, and then I switched those to cups - DD decided she didn't want her cup till breakfast time so we did the same with DS and he was ok with it...bedtime bottle/sippy just kind of evolved away too - they weren't drinking much so I decided to not give it to them one night and they slept just fine....now that said if dinner is very early or they don't eat very well I'll still give them a sippy of milk before bed and what they drink, they drink....we were off bottles by 13 mos and did away with morning/evening bottles about 2 weeks after that...
