I am trying to push a bit harder on solid. I think my babies are tired of gerber baby food. I cooked rice with potato and chic, then pureed it. They didnt like it. I grilled eggplants added some seasonning, still didnt like. They eat some banana, orange, pan cake, french toast but only couple bites!!! they like yumyum but only chew on it. My son like choco pudding. but it has so much sugar, i cant give him whole container. So what kinds of food do your babies love to eat? TIA!

At that age we were starting more actual foods - like corn, peas, cut up carrots, shredded chicken, etc. I'm wondering if they would like those things better than purees? And maybe they could feed themselves a bit, too - that might get them more interested in eating.

By ten months I would hold my baby on my lap, and feed him bites off my plate of anything that wasn't hard/a choking hazard. My baby didn't really get interested in eating until he could eat things we were eating, and then he couldn't get enough of it! Now at 12 months we never make anything that is just for him.

By ten months old, all three of my kids were essentially off of baby food. I only kept a jar of baby food in my diaper bag for emergencies. They ate everything we ate. I cut it up really small. They LOVED it. They loved the real food, they loved feeding themselves. I would definitely start trying finger foods with them...

Pasta: ditalini is a good one to start with
    Meatballs
    chicken/turkey: cut up bite sizes
toast-cut into strip, then into little squares. You could add the pureed fruits to them on top
    waffles/pancakes
    cheerios
    blueberries/strawberries/melon: diced small
    eggs-my kids loved scrambled eggs
    yogurt

The list goes on and on! Give it a try-start slow-they will let you know what they like!

My 2 will eat nearly anything! t1 doesn't have quite as big an appetite as her sister though.

I like to use a combo of homemade baby food, food that the rest of the family eats and also occsionally store bought baby food for variety and ease. Every week I do up batches of cooked fruit mixes, veges and some kind of meat (fish, chicken, beef etc)

    a sample menu:
Breakfast - cereal and fruit or toast & yogurt
Snack - homemade pancake/pikelet or fruit
Lunch - vegimite sandwich, veges, custard or homemade meat/veges & yogurt
snack - selection of fruit incl. kiwi fruit, melon, apple, carrot, grapes or sml biscuit as a treat
Tea - cooked pasta, cooked pieces veges (cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potato ), sml pieces meat to chew on or homemade fruit, store bought custard

I also always try and give them some sort of finger food at every meal, so they are getting practice.

My twins are 9.5 months and we've also recently been pushing more "real" food. So far they will eat cut up bananas (but we have to crush cheerios and roll them in it or they are too slippery for them to pick up), we also buy the little dole fruit cups and they will eat mandarin oranges, peaches and pears out of those, we gave them turkey hot dogs the other day. To be safe, I sliced them long ways and then long ways again so I had four super long quarters, then I cut those long skinny pieces into super tiny chunks. They loved them! Ella would scream once her piece was gone. I made older DS cinnamon toast for breakfast yesterday and sliced them up some, they loved that as well.

Pretty much we are trying to start feeding them whatever it is we're eating. Just much smaller pieces. For example, if DH and I have grilled chicken for dinner one night, they get it too, just sliced up.

oh! And yesterday evening I opened up a can of green beans and gave them some. Strange thing is though, they won't touch green bean baby food but they LOVED the actual, real green beans. :D

Good luck, have fun with it.

I have to admit, it's one of my favourite parts of raising babies.
I love trying new foods with them and seeing how they react with different tastes and textures and new foods.

I DO NOT however, love the mess. I am so over cleaning high chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We gave them turkey sausage today. They loved it but they kinda gagged on it. Should I keep offering or just wait for a week? my son loved cheese. My daughter loved green bean, carrot. They still dont eat that much, but they started getting interested in their finger food. Thats a good sign. I keep offering new food everyday and hopping they will like some haha. I know they start taking in more cals. They dont get it from solid, they drink more now (32OZ).

Oh and we always start with finger food, we give them 15 mins, then feed them some baby food and cereal, then we offer bottles right after that (like 10 mins after). Should I give them more time to practice finger food? Some time they ar hungry, but just play with their food then go for 9oz bottles though.

    Thanks ladies!
