What kind of cheese?

I want to give the girls cheese but was wondering what kind. I know it has to be soft and they have no teeth yet. Do I do American? What kind do you give your kiddos?

 

I started with a mild swiss cheese. Bryce loves it, Chloe gags on it .

I give my girls the three cheese crumbles(cheddar, colby, and Jack i think) and they have always loved it

 

From a safety perspective, anything that's fairly soft and not a fresh cheese (i.e. no goat cheese or fresh mozzarella). I don't know about blue cheese or other fungus-y ones? But I doubt most babies would like it anyway.

We gave them little cubes of mild cheddar, Dubliner (a cheddar-type cheese we get at Costco that DH really likes), Gouda, monterey jack, etc. We even tried pepper jack, but they weren't into that.

 

we eat a lot of cheddar here. i have given the crumbles but usually eat block cheddar cut into little cubes. They also like it grated...but it's messy. I think it's more fun to play with it. I don't think i've ever tried anything else...but they love cheddar!

 

We like Cheddar here, sharp especially!

 

They like the sliced yellow american. I cut it into small pieces.

 

I started with the mild cheddar and three cheese crumbles. Then I gave them string cheese cut up and now I also give them American.

They also love garlic herb Adoulle(sp?) soft cheese spread on crackers. It makes a huge mess, so that is their dinner treat on bath night!
