what is your wind-down activity before bedtime?

I was having such a hard time winding them down for bed. Bath's didn't work, swaddling didn't work, cuddles didn't work...so after a crazy afternoon/early evening of sobbing (DS got himself all worked up!)...after their bedtime bottle which I gave them in the living room with dim lights instead of the family room I then placed them both in the same crib to lay under the mobile so I could do some things before putting them to bed. I then swaddled DS and placed him in his own crib and tucked DD in. They were asleep within 10 minutes! I could not believe it!

So, thinking it was a fluke, I did the exact same thing last night and it worked again! Yippee!

So from now on we will do bedtime bottles in living room and winddown mobile time. What works for you?

I give my sons dinner then they play for awhile. when they start getting cranky I change them. Then I hold them and brush their teeth. They really start relaxing with the brushing. I then put them in their cribs. They will talk to each other for a few minutes and then they fall asleep. They are such good babies!

Mine watch a Baby Einstein video right before bed. They go to their cribs right after it's over, so we make sure that diapers are fresh and they have their sleep sacks on.

I swear by dim lights! I have dimmers on all my lights (installed while pregnant) and I'm convinced that's why my babies never had day/night confusion. When the sun goes down our lights go down and it helps them wind down - that and no music/noise. We keep everything very quiet, low stimulation, I even whisper to them and try to talk in a very melodic voice, I nurse them down, sometimes a bath, and then bed!

My boys get a bottle at 6pm, then [play a little while until 7, bath and baby massage, then off to sleep...one will lay awake in the crib while i am bathing and massaging the other and then i turn the light out and turn on the lalluby CD at 7.30ish. works like a charm for us [IMG]
