2 full size high chairs or space savers or something else? Has anyone used the clip on high chairs? I'm thinking of getting these for my twins because two full size highchairs take up so much room! We only have 4 dining room chairs, so if I moved them to space saver highchairs, I would need to buy another chair. http://www.amazon.com/Chicco-Degree-Rotating-Hook-Chair/dp/B002GD4H6M
We have two spacesavers - they work well for us because the twins are our only kids, and we really don't have room for additional highchairs apart from the dining chairs. We have a clip on chair that we use when we go places - our doesn't have a tray, though - I wish it did! It seems to work fine.
We use the space savers as well but they are our only kids. I have a friend that only used clip ons and she loved them!
We have to big high chairs but I will say look around and find something thats easy to clean...mine are Chicco ones and they are a pain to clean...escpially when you ahve two.
We have two of the full size cheapo Cosco high chairs. They fold flat if we needed to store them and are much smaller scale than the other full size ones we looked at. Plus they were around $40 apiece.
I'm worried about those chicco ones because they are fabric. Yikes! The newer space saver high chairs are fabric too. I may just get another healthy care booster and find a random chair to put it on. LOL
We could not use the space savers because they actually didn't save us any space in our very small kitchen. We also only have 4 kitchen chairs and our table is pushed up against the wall. When we tried to put the space saver ones on the chairs, the chairs wouldn't push under the table so they would be sticking way out. We used these and they were our best "TWIN" purchase by far!!! http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3111613 The photos don't show it but these high chairs fold up so they are like 6-7 inches wide. We would fold them up and slide them between the table and the wall. And we would just take them out to use them and then put them away. It was really easy and worth it. They also recline so you can use them when they are still infants and not able to sit up so great on their own. Anyway, that's just my opinion! Shannon
So did we...so I bought a new table with 6 chairs, lol! Cheapest one I could get from The Brick but now DH no longer has to sit on a folding card table chair . We have 2 space savers which works well since we can pack them up easily and bring them with us whenever we go anywhere over mealtime (which to be honest isn't very often!).
I have the two space saver chairs, which works for us. I would be nervous about the clip ons. right now i have the babies both side by side and I sit in front of them to feed them, I don't see how you can do that easily with two clip ons. Additionally, my girls sometimes make each other wild and silly, and I would be nervous as to how well those clip ons actually stay on, and I know that my 4 year old would have taken it apart.
We have two Graco space savers. They are fabric, but it wipes down easily and comes off for washing. I love them. They're strapped to chairs at our kitchen table and are completely out of the way.
For the boys I had the Eddie Bauer wood highchairs. After two years of using them...I was DONE. I was so sick of cleaning them 402959 times a day. And the vinyl part is not machine washable. So for Annabella we went out and bought the FP SpaceSaver. I like that one much better. The only downside is it's not machine washable. Ugh. I don't know about the attach to the table ones, but I know that's what they use in Italy. LOL!
We use the Graco Spacesavers even now since our twins are only 12 weeks now. They recline back into an infant position which makes it nice to bring the babies into the kitchen with me. Our table has 8 chairs and the spacesavers don't fit under the table but for us it really isn't an issue and they don't stick out that far from the table.
We have 2 FP Space savers and love them. We put them on vinyl office chairs with wheels so we can easily roll them into another room if they are in the way. They are great because they fold down and we use them for traveling all the time. They are super easy to clean too. By far one of the best baby gear investments we made. Here is the link to them. If you sign up for the amazon mom program you may even be able to get a discount and free shipping if you order them from Amazon.
I have two generic highchairs from Ikea and really like them. I have three other kids so to buy the type that hook on a chair I would have to buy a table that fits eight people. Our kitchen is pretty small but these highchairs don't take up much room. I have them sitting side by side. DH and I are considering buying a kitchen big island from Ikea. It has four drawers then you buy the counter top to go with it. We figure we can buy the counter top slightly bigger and buy chairs to go around it. By then the twins would be over a year and could sit on a booster at the table. We're either going to buy that or buy a large table that has a insert. DH doesn't always eat dinner with us so I could just add the insert when I know we'll all eat together.
We have 2 full size that will convert to a table and chair as they grow. We wanted something that would multi purpose and grow with them and this was perfect. Here is a link but we found ours cheaper I think on overstock.com and got a girl and boy version. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Badger-Basket-Envee-Baby-High-Chair-with-Playtable-Conversion/12318094
We also have 2 FP Spacesavers. So far we like them and they've been easy to clean. We only have 4 chairs around our table but no other kids. We also have a really long bar in our kitchen which is completely open to the dining area and living room and that also has 4 tall stools. We use that more often now if we have other people over.
I hated my big high chairs - Chicco ones... they leaned back so far when they were in full upright position that the trays didn't come near the kids bellies... and therefore let so much food get down into the seat and it was a BIG MESS to clean up! they were vinyl, but it would get into the cracks and crevices... yuck! I sold those and got 1 big wood high chair, at least the clean was better... seat sat up right and just wipe off the wood. the other one I got was a restaurant high chair, which probably isn't good for your case since yours are still pretty young. I finally sold those and just got boosters for on top of the dining room chairs... works better for us now. what I was going to say was that eventually when these two are older you will need 5 chairs, right? so maybe getting the extra now isn't such a bad idea... good luck! p.s. that link to the clip on, swivel chair is really neat!
We have these high chairs - Boon Flair Pneumatic Pedestal Highchair and we love them. They are REALLY EASY to clean, they go up and down, and they can be used when they grow also. Plus they have the wheels and we give them rides in the kitchen in them - which they still think it's cool and they like it . There's a brake also for when you don't want them to move. Also, the style matches our bar stools and our colors in the kitchen - light blue/white so we like them a lot. We get a lot of compliments for how cool they look also .
I abosultely love and highly recommend trayless high chairs. Something like this Stokke chair. They are expensive--but you are not buying them for just a couple of months use like a conventional high chair. They adujst to the height of your table and can also be used at desks, bars, etc. They include your baby in family meals because you sit them at the table with you. We had ours made my a local carpenter, my girls sat in them for 4 years. Then I sold one and now my baby uses the other. I really wish everyone in the world used chairs like these.
We have two full size Graco 4-in-1 Bombay high chairs and LOVE them!! The reviews were fantastic on them. They are a breeze to clean!! They turn into a booster chair and a youth chair so they grow with your child. They are a bit pricey at $180 a piece but to me, well worth it. Here is a link which shows a video and how they work in case you are interested..good luck with your choice: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3368240
