Two days in a row the same idiots have woken the boys mid-nap by coming to the door and banging and ringing the doorbell repeatedly. These are people we used to know who moved away and they are back visiting. They have kids of their own. You would think they'd have a clue that when you approach a house where they have two toddlers and it's dead quiet, either nobody is home or it's nap time. One light knock is sufficient. So, the boys are waaaaaaay beyond cranky and I just want to cry because now that they are used to one nap, they won't take a second and make up what they missed. They'll just be miserable little fussypants for the rest of the day. Oh, and the idiots were here to pick up DH so I get this lovely day all to myself. Again.

Ugh! I'd feel the exact same way!! We did a lot of work to our house when the twins were really little and I told my dh to NOT reinstall the doorbell. It's still not back up! I just hate the idea of someone ringing it and waking everyone up during naptime. Those people sound completely clueless. How stupid!!

I would put a note on the bell that says "babies napping ... please knock".

:hug99: I understand totally! I don't think our doorbell works (on purpose). I did used to have a note that said to knock. A note would probably be a good idea!

I used to post a note. My family would always come at the wrong time. Now that they're older they don't come by as much.

The note is the trick - and the beauty is it doesn't really have ot be "polite". My neighbor has one that says:

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RING THIS DOORBELL OR KNOCK ON THIS DOOR.

She makes no apologies for it, either.

So sorry that your kiddos were disturbed and are cranky. I agree that a note seems to be the answer. Obviously they don't get that silence=sleeping so I think you need to spell it out for them...literally.
