Weird question I know, my boys will be 5 months next week and Brandon is still waking up every 3 hrs to feed, the longest stretch he went sleeping without eating was 4 hrs and it only happened few times. I am beyond exhausted. I would be beyond thrilled to get 6 hrs of sleep.

Good question! One of my boys sleep 12-13 hours, but the other one... same situation. He wants to be fed every 4 hours (ok, better than 3) and he wakes very early in the morning.
I don't know the answer to this, but I know that babies are all different. I am hoping when he gets big enough and able to eat enough during the day, then he would sttn.
    Good luck!

All babies are different in regards to STTN. My pediatrician defines it as 5-6 hours straight, I defined it 10-12 hours straight and both of mine started to do that between 10-12 weeks. Some people have said their babies did not sleep through until almost a year old. Then I have a friend, her second DS started at 6 weeks....so it is so hard to say.

LOL, I think you posted this in the wrong forum. :) Mine didn't STTN until over a year old--defined as 10-12 hours. I wasn't able to get a 6-7 hour stretch until I did CIO at 8 months old.

Even at 19 months one of my boys will wake up probably 3-4 nights a week. On the positive side, most babies are STTN before mine did, so don't be alarmed, but I think there are quite a few of us who had kids who didn't STTN until well after 5 months.

Hang in there mama, it's tough believe me I know.

You might not have asked this question while you're still in the thick of it. I stopped feeding at 7 mo. and they usually sleep at least eight hour streches. Sometimes 12 hours if we're lucky. We don't do CIO though, they still wake during the night 3-4 times a week. I have a nephew who is almost two who still wakes multiple times a night. like pp said, every baby is different. Good luck.

One LO started sleeping 10-12 hours straight at 7 mos. The other at 10 mos. Good luck.

Mine started STTN around 4 months. Just one night they did and from there on out they continued to!! I was so happy when it happened. Of course they still wake a few times for pacis but I will take it!

Mine just started at 5-5.5 months. They go to bed at 630, I dream feed them at 10 and they stay asleep until 6 or 7am when we get them up. I would say they are consistent for 5 of 7 nights.

12.5 months. We decided to do a modified CIO at 12 months because we desperately needed to sleep. I kept waiting for them to STTN by themselves, but it didn't happen for us.

It really varies from kid to kid. My oldest STTN regularly at about 6 months. My 4 year still doesn't. With my twins, one generally sleeps from 7-7 and only seems to wake if he is in a growth spurt, cutting a new tooth, or is congested. He's been like that since 5 months. My other one always wakes at least once to nurse and some nights he's up every 2-3 hours.

Kenneth and Ian are 9 months old and still dont sleep through the night. Its common for me to be up 4-5 times with them, every night.

My son slept from 10pm to 5am for the very first time on Dec 1 (Born June 29 @36 weeks) so right after 5 months or 6 months adjusted.

My daughter did the same 2 weeks after but only after CIO (she would wake up for a mere 2 oz bottles and did not even finish that, so I cut it out as I assumed it's just a habit)

One of my girls sleeps from 7:00 p.m. until I wake her up in the morning and has been that way since she was about 4 months old and the other has been the complete opposite. Only about 2 months ago or about when she was 10 months old, she woke up every night around 10:00 p.m. or 2:00 but now after she has been mobile and eating solids she wipes herself out now and sleeps more than her sister. In short, until they are mobile, they will set their own pace and there isn't much you can do about it other then putting them to bed on their own (CIO).

First I want to thank everyone whose babies are not yet STTN for posting. I believe there are more of us out there than we often think! Mine were just getting good at 4-5 stretches at around 4 months- but that was their first part of sleep so it occurred before I came to bed. Then came the milestone of rolling, then teething and separation anxiety. So now we are 8 months and still waking every couple hours (both of them). It is exhausting but we manage somehow. The most important improvement for us was no longer needing to rock them to sleep or have them fall asleep on us. Now we can put them to sleep in their cribs and have some time in the evening. It has made the frequent wakings easier to cope with. Since they are going through so much developmentally we are not going to make any drastic changes at this point. I will continue to nurse at night until they are pretty much fully on foods and able to have dairy and I feel 100% confident they do not need the BM.
