What is the difference between a peri and MFM? I am having lots of issues right now with my midwives, and the MFM I go to for u/s. I don't feel that my concernes are being addressed with either or right now, and may have to switch practices.

I don't think there is a difference between a peri and MFM, but I may be wrong. My OB (who I'm no longer seeing) referred to the doctor I'm seeing now as a peri. But when I've seen my doctor's name different places, I think it's followed by 'MFM.' I hope you can find a doctor who you're comfortable with.

No difference -- a perinatologist practices "multi-fetal medicine" (MFM) -- at least that's how I always understood it!

MFM = "maternal - fetal medicine". High risk -- so they will see you if you have a singleton too, but end up high risk due to age, blood pressure, abnormalities in the baby, etc. :)

The same, although others have echoes that!

My doctor referred to himself as a "perinatologist," although he is listed with my insurance under "Maternal Fetal Medicine." When I called my insurance asking for a list of perinatologists in my area, they had no clue what that was! I had to do some research before calling back and asking for an MFM!
