So we took our 3 year old DS to Chuck E Cheese with the twins the other day. (The twins stayed in their carseats) and they are in matching carseats, matching clothes and matching coats.

A woman comes up to me and asks...

    "Are they BOTH yours?"

I had to bust out laughing and said, 'uh yeah they are twins...' And she stuck around to ask if they were maternal. Oh yes. Maternal.

My husband came over and when I told him that she asked if they were BOTH ours... he said next time say, 'No, actually one is a loaner - we're just trying to decide which one to keep..." :D

Yeah, I still get the "Are they twins?" comment. Hello, they are in matching outfits and a SBS stoller. Go figure. I just smile and nod and keep on goin'!

    Love the "loaner" comment!!

The other day I got an "Oh, you poor thing" when a woman found out I had two babies to have baptized. We were at the baptism planning meeting and she was another mom of a single baby to be baptized. I should have said, "oh, you poor thing with only one baby, don't you feel bad you don't have two?"

    People are crazy.

Yeah the other day someone told me and DH how sorry they were for us that we had four kids. We feel truely blessed actually to have 4 kids. People do need to mind their own business. We hate going out sometimes b/c it takes so long in the store b/c so many want to stop and ask questions.

Again, I might be in the minority, but I think it's just human nature. I think most people know how special twins are AND how much work they are, and they are just looking for a way to break the ice and say the first thing that comes to mind without thinking how it might be taken.

When I do go out and no one says anything about my two babies, I'll think to myself, "Hey, don't you see I have TWINS here??"

I got the 'are they both yours' comment in a grocery store, and I thought that was an odd question. However then I realize that some people run daycares and take the kids out with them, it was kind of understandable. I do still think it is an odd question.

I got a thoughttless remark from another mom of twins in the dr office the other day. She had fraternal boys, about 13 months... She saw my double snap and go, and came over for a peek at my twins. But when I responded that 'yes, mine are identical', she said, "oh, mine are fraternal, thank God", like its a disease to be ID or something. Crazy.

Maybe she was worried about not being able to tell her twins apart?

Maybe she knows that pregnancy with ID twins is lot riskier? Or maybe she knows that ID twins are random, but frat runs in families, and she really wants a SECOND set of twins and is hoping for it??? Grasping at straws here!

Yeah I have met 2 other families that have fraternal twins (one is b/g the other b/b) and I first met the one with the b/b twins and she said the same thing and its like hey I feel blessed to have ID twins. When you are around them everyday, you can see the differences between them. For me, one is chunkier than the other and the same one has a little bit more hair for some odd reason....don't know if thats just a me seeing thing or what.

I saw a couple out with their twins in the snap-n-go at the mall the other day, I said look you guys have what we do, meaning both the SNG and twins, we laughed and then exchanged some favorite twin comments with much eye rolling  : I told her "oh you have your hands full" when she said she had a 3yo and 4 1/2 yo also after meeting my 3 1/2 yo
and she said " Oh I bet she is a big helper" ;)

I agree w/ PP it is just human nature and curiousity but some people need to check the mouth brakes sometimes :)
