What is an NST? I know it's non-stress test, but what happens during it? I just got my itemized bill from when I was hospitalized and apparently I had one, but didn't even know it. $424 for something I don't even remember. Crazy! Insurance will cover it, so I'm not worried about that, but you'd think I'd know that I had it done.

I am getting them weekly so I am pretty familiar with them.

They attach 2 "belts" to your belly with these round things to check the babies heartbeats and one to check for contractions. (At least that is what they do here). I have to push a button everytime I feel a movement but you may not have had that part of it.

The belts here are like big elasticy things...I am pretty sure you would know if you had all of that on your belly.

Oh. I guess that's what they called measuring my contractions then. I just had one belt that measured contractions. They didn't have heart monitors for the babies because I was only 19 weeks and the babies were small and move around a lot. Funny how keeping track of contractions with a little machine costs that much.

Basically it is when they hook you up to the monitors to monitor the heartbeats and contractions. They generally put a monitor on each baby to see how their heartrates respond to their own movement and the contractions that you may or may not be having.
