What gear should I retire?

O.K. my living room is more like a toy room and has little walking space. We have 2 boppies, 1 bumbo, 2 bouncers, 1 swing, 1 exersaucer, 1 playgym and 1 large toy box for my 20 mo. old. ALL in our living room. We are fortunate to have a good sized one though. I am looking to get rid of a thing or 2 and move our jumperoo into the living room as well. What would you suggest I retire? The girls are now 5 mo. old and getting ready for bigger and better things. Thanks for all your responses!

My girls are a little older I am about ready to retire our play mat. Now that they roll all over they don't seem happy with their small play mat. I use my boppies for feeding but maybe if you have two bouncers you could stop using the boppy pillows and just use the bouncy seats. My girls still use their bouncy, it still handy for either watching a video, quick nap or feeding. We use our exersaucer and jumperoo a ton. The swing doesn't get used nearly as much for us except for an occasional late afternoon nap.

we stopped using the swings at 5 1/2 months. we still use the bouncers for feedings, tho. we got a playmat that folds into a tunnel, so we still use that, but the other playmats are put away.

I say the bouncers are probably something that can go :) .

I don't really use my boppy much so I put that away. I still use my bouncers and playmat regularly. The swing is not as popular as it once was - I have that in another room in my house if I need to rest a kiddo there while I do something in that room. I basically have stations set up throughout my whole house so that every major room has at least one child station - ie. bouncer, exersaucer, jumper, swing, playgym, etc.

The only thing I'd get rid of is the bouncers at that age. Mine squirm and try and climb out of them. Maybe the swing, if you don't use it much. I got rid of one of our swings, but sometimes still use the other one. Definitely keep the bumbo and exersaucer and toy box.

I'd get rid of the mat, the bumbo, and the boppies. We used the bouncies for bottles up until they were easily 9 months old. That was the easiest way for me to double feed. I would keep the exersaucer and the swing around a bit longer.

I am accumulating more stuff and have not been able to retire anything! We just broke out the exercauser and the jumperoo. Still use the play mat, bumbo's, bouncy chairs and swings.

I'm thinking, and I'm not ready to retire anything! :) I know the swings are going soon probably as they start to sit up, but they are papasan swings that lay way back, so I think we have a little while. Maybe the playmats, but mine still like them. Nope - can't get rid of anything.

We are moving DS into a bigger carseat this weekend. :( He's like 18 or 19 pounds I think and I just can't lug him around anymore in a 8 or 9 pound seat. Plus, he's starting to look cramped. ETA - why this is relevant - it's the only big thing we are going to be retiring. :)

It's a tough decision, but it's true, there's only so much space and you continue to acquire more and more things! I just got rid of one bouncy seat today b/c we haven't used them in at least a month. I want to have one to plop someone in though if we're out on the patio. I got to bumbos but I really don't think I need both. I'm wanting to get rid of our papasan swing b/c I just don't use it anymore, but I keep having the 'what if I need it' thoughts. I have a portable swing though that has proven handy. I try not to put them in swings as much now that they like to move around so much. They're mostly on the floor, in our arms, or now in their favorite thing (which I try not to abuse although it's hard not to) the exersaucer. I have started keeping things in various rooms like a pp mentioned. That way we can get a change of scenery, have a place to plop, and declutter the family room.
