    (sorry for subject typo)
Hey guys, My twin boys are just over 8 weeks old!

just had a doctors apointment today and
landon weighed in at 11 pounds even and aiden 9 lbs 14 oz

The dr said they no longer need to be on the neosure formula, which is great because it was making them constipated and fussy!

but we dont know what formula to switch too...

is there any out there that are good for preemies?

    I know theres

    Emfamil, Simalac, and Good start

i dont know what companys better than the other....

then once we pick a company theres like 6 diferent "flavors" is you will...

like i knwo they dont need soy or anything like that, but i woudl like something that will not bind them up, and continue to thrive!

    any advice is apprecated!!

We use Carnation Good Start Plus with DHA and ARA for healthy brain and eye development.

I much prefer goodstart, it's always been easier on my babies tummies. For us though, with twins, all the "name brands" are too expensive unless absolutely necessary, so we use the knock off brands, right now parents choice sensitive is what we are buying. It's half the price of goodstart, enfamil and similac.

To start with just try the regular kind, whatever brand you choose. If necessary you can switch to the gentle or sensitive or soy down the road if the babies have problems with it.

Give it a week to two weeks of transition time before deciding if something is bothering the babies tummies :) Start by mixing 1/4 new formula to 3/4 old formula and transition them slower helps!

    Good luck!

We used Infamil Gentlease in the beginning [my MIL is a nurse and got her hands on free samples]. After the Gentlease ran out we started them on 1/2 Similac Sensitive [orange color label] and 1/2 Infamil AR [because they were having some spit up issues during the first few months]. Since about 4+ months we've been strictly on Similac Sensitive and have done well on it.

As far as your babies being premies, it looks to me like they're getting to be right on track with their weight ^_^ Soon, you won't be able to tell their weight apart from non-premies. You're doing a great job, mama!

I totally agree with Danielle! :) We ended up on Parent's Choice(Walmart brand), and it saved us a fortune. If you can go generic, and it sounds like you can(regular formula), do it! All formulas are regulated by the FDA, so are very similar.

When Tyler is not have Breastmilk he drink Enfamil Gentlease(purple can) I gave him Enfamil (yellow can) and he had a bad reaction to it. The ER told me to switch to soy and I said NO WAY so we went to gentlease and hes been doing great. The twins were on Enfamil AR.
We also used the Walmart brand and they did wonderful!

we went from neosure to similac sensitive. when we realized "sensitive" just means no lactose and our guys have never given us an indication that they're lactose sensitive, we went to similac advanced. we did similac advanced for several months and i swear it was sending us to the poor house.

i did a ton of research and the truth of the matter is that baby formula is the most regulated product in america. there is no "bad" formula. every single formula, from the bargain basement generic to the most expensive brand, has to meet very specific and very rigorous standards. once a formula meets those standards everything else is just a "feature."

so we switched to target brand infant formula. they're marketing it under the name up & up now. on the side panel you can do a direct comparison to the ingredients of infamil and similac. and since they're so similar and the product is so scrutinized, we didn't see the point of staying with a name brand.

considering the fact that we burn up something like 3 or 4 cans a week, the cost savings is huge. a can of similac advanced (which they recently reduced the size of with their redesign) is, what, $22? a can of target formula with the same ingredients in the same quantities is $11. it literally saves us more than $100 a month.

i would totally recommend the target stuff. my guys are preemies, 33 1/2 weekers.

by the way, whatever decision you make, make it gradually. transition slowly over a week by slowly increasing the new formula and slowly decreasing the old one.

We went from a higher cal Similac to the regular. After months of shelling out the big bucks, we started using Target and Walmart brands that were comparable. It worked out great. If your boys need to eat more calories, you can always (after checking w/ pedi first) add extra powder to the bottles.

We went from Neosure to the Costco Kirkland brand formula. It worked out great, and it definitely saved me a lot of $$.
