I am just curious what formula everyone uses (if you use any). Especially if your babies have reflux.

My twins were on Nutramigen since birth, then at around 7 mos we switched to soy, then at about 10 months regular Similac, then introduced milk at 11 months and slowly made the transition to all milk at 1 year. They both had severe cases of reflux and were seen by many specialists. The Nutramigen worked well, but it was big bucks and sure smelled awful coming back up!!!!!!!!
My baby has a moderate case of reflux, but we have always had her on good ol' Similac when she needs a supplement bottle (I am bfing). She does fine with it.

Both babies started out on Neosure for weight gain issues. DS was put on Enfamil at 2 months, DD not until 5 months. She had horrible reflux, but her Prilosec has made her a whole new baby!

Parents Choice LACTOSE free. We tried alot of them and this one had the best results for my ds, who had the reflux.

Emilie and Trevor were on Enfamil Enfacare for the extra calories due to being preemies. We had to put cereal in their bottles for reflux.

Nutramigen- They started this formula when they went on prevacid. It is so expensive but because we saw such good results we did not want to mess with changing anything. A couple months into is we did try Gentleease but after 2 days went back to Nutramigen. They seemed to show reflux/fussy signs on the Gentlease.

Piper had bad reflux as a baby so we used S-26 LF (lactose-free, whey dominant formula) which is suitable from birth.

Gentlease for our girls. For McKenna's we add a couple scoops of rice cereal to tame her spitting up a bit. We tried the AR, and it worked but she got so constipated! DH bought some Nutrimagen to try, but we haven't yet since McKenna just started new meds (one thing at a time). We may try it next week to see if she's even better with that, but her new meds have already turned her into a new baby!!

Enfamil AR is designed for babies with reflux. It hits the belly and then thickens - making it harder to come back up. Alimentum also works well though.

I started both twins on Target (the regular Enfamil copy), and they're still on it. However due to Felix' reflux we tried Alimentum and Nutragimen, but it didn't make a difference, so the GI specialist told me to switch back to regular. I had him on Target Gentlease version for a 4 months (my peace of mind) but then switched back to regular Target so they're both having the same. And it's cheaper too! We tried soy, no difference (my oldest was on soy > spit up and constipation). We do add rice cereal to Felix' bottle, and he's also on Prevacid.

Two reflux babies here and they drink Similac Advance. We tried soy for 2 weeks (BAD constipation for both) and Alimentum for one day (I couldn't stand the smell of it).

We started them on Enfamil AR at about 2 months old and they've been on it ever since. It worked wonders for us in reducing reflux.

Thanks for the advice! This reflux is driving me crazy! Not to mention the extra laundry! We just got a perscription for her so I will try that first and if not, I think I will switch formulas! Thanks again ladies!

same here!! ours is Enfamil AR and my girls are still on it - I BF them 90% of the time when they do take the formula it is a huge pain to deal with clogged nipples!! I had to buy fast flow nipples which it comes out too fast but other nipples don't work at all!!!

Mine were on Similac Neosure for the first 6 months, then we switched to Good Start.

An infant with colic/reflux has repeated periods of crying every day around the same time. It usually begins between two weeks and three months of age. During an “attack” of colic/reflux, the infant cries inconsolably, extends their legs and usually passes gas. These attacks usually occur in the early evening and can last several hours. Switching formulas does not usually help a baby with colic/reflux. Since the same symptoms can be caused by a milk allergy, many physicians will switch the formula on a trial basis. A hypoallergenic formula is used for the regular milk-based formula. Fortunately, time usually cures this perplexing and difficult problem, not changing the formula.
