besides the obvious (milk, veggies...), here are the foods that i must always have on hand for the girls:

bananas (you can never go wrong with "nanas" )
those new large, multi grain rice krispies (omg they LOVE those... way more than cheerios! )
cottage cheese (they dance while eating this)

as soon as we are down to two bananas, or 1/4 of a box of the rice krispies, i go to the store and stock back up lol!

CHEERIOS! My kids are OBSESSED with them. I think if they could-they would eat them 24/7. Anthony once went into the cupboard(long cupboard) and took out the container of Cheerios and handed me his snack cup. I think he was trying to tell me something. I can't put my finger on it...

Fruit-my boys LOVE fruit. So-bananas, strawberries(they chow through these), peaches(LOVE fresh peach season), pears
    crackers
eggs-for those "what in the world am I going to feed them" days! LOL!
pasta w/sauce-they LOVE pasta fagioli. LOVE it.
    PBJ
    DELI cheese-not pre-packaged cheese-they WON'T EAT IT!

Those are a few things that they will CONSISTENTLY eat. But Cheerios-I don't leave home without 'em! :p

it seems to change every few weeks, but some of the consistent ones have been:

    Bananas
    Toast (so basically bread)
Cereal of some sort - cheerios, Chex, shreddies
    Cans of corn
    Grapes
    Graham wafers
    Yogurt
    oatmeal

I wish I had more easy to make things - but DD is allergic to eggs which makes some of the pancakes, waffles, etc hard to do - wish I could tho!

Dianne, pasta pickups are made by Gerber. You can find them with the baby food. It's basically ravioli w/o sauce. There are several flavors, chicken & carrots, cheese, cheese& spinach are the ones I can think of now.

I buy the veggie burgers in the natural/organic isle. I've tried two so far and they love them... they don't eat plain veggies so I'll take it!

    corn
    goldfish (DS2)

Avacado - they love, love, love it!
Gerber meals - spaghetti, chicken and stars etc.
    puffs
    yogurt puffs
    yogurt
    bread
    cheese
    gerber apples, carrots
    nutri-grain bars
    veggie burgers
    chicken
    mac n cheese
    cheerios
    bannanas

Question: do you give them actual mandarin slices or the canned kind? I've wanted to try mandarins, but was afraid they might choke on the skin (is that what you call it?) part. My babies just turned 1 year on 3/14. Also, any other ideas for veggies they can eat right now would be great.

And, thank you for posting this - very helpful ideas for food!! =)

    Bananas
    Grapes
    Applesauce
Frozen Veggies (especially green beans, they are a big hit around here)
    goldfish crackers
kix cereal (they like it better than cheerios)
    cheese cheese and more cheese
    eggs (such an easy meal)
noodles (my kids will eat anything if there is a noodle involved)
    nutrigrain eggos
peanut butter (we seriously go through 2 jars a month now)
    milk

I also try to keep several 'homemade' frozen dinners on hand. I make double batches of chili, spagetti sauce, stirfry, potroast, etc. and freeze it in individual 8 ounce portions. Then on the evenings I work or on crazy days I can have an easy meal for them on the table in 5 minutes or less.

I used to be a once a week max shopper but now I find I am at the store 2 sometimes 3 times a week buying milk, fruit, and other perishables.

I do both, the canned kind is really quick and easy and great for when I'm out of fresh fruit. I buy tangerines when they look good and just peel them and try to make sure I have all the skin/tough parts off. When they first were doing finger foods I used to cut them in bite sized pieces but not anymore and they do fine.

We do mostly fresh fruits, and I have to have a ton of fruit in the house. They do eat a good bit of it. My kids have done both fresh and canned mandarin oranges. If I get the canned kind, I rinse them with water then drain before I give them to them. I used to have to cut them into halfs but I don't have to do that anymore.

    So, for us:

    Fruits
    Cheese
Waffles (they love the mini waffles/blueberry)
    Mini bagels and cream cheese
    Juice
    French toast
    Bread
Annie's macaroni/cheese shells (the only kind of macaroni my daughter will eat, and she LOVES it...my son won't eat any pasta)
    Veggie Bootie
Lots of veggies (mostly frozen, some fresh)
    Multigrain cheerios
    Rice (my son loves rice)
    Eggs
    Nutrigrain bars
Recently, the sunflower seed butter and jelly have been a big success and soooo easy! Great for being on the go.
