I would like to give the boys some fish to try but I hate seafood with the exception of an occasion cocktail shrimp. Blech...anyways...which fish can they have and how do you prepare it for them? Thanks:)

i make the girls tuna casserole every once in a while & that seems to be a big hit - not often though as tuna's one of those fish that can potentially have a lot of mercury.

other than that, they haven't had any other seafood - DH & i aren't big fish eaters so it just doesn't get served at our house. :unknw:

We have given ours salmon, tilipia, flounder and they liked all three. We have not tried shellfish yet because there are allergies in DH's family.

We don't eat it here, so I haven't given them any.

Mine are not huge on tilapia, but I tried it from a frozen dinner which I didn't like either...and I like tilapia. So, I wasnt' surprised when they weren't interested. I tried another fish dinner and they were pretty good with it. They just need some sort of tasty sauce to go with it. They love tuna, but because of it's mercury content, it was only a little bit of it. We have yet to try salmon. I'm not a huge salmon fan, but I've had some good salmon before at Red Lobster. We'll be going there at some point so the boys can taste a little bit of fresh fish. I've never really cooked fish for them and the one I did try didn't go over well.

I hate to admit it, but my guys love fish sticks. We get the ones from Costco that are more "fish" than "stick" so they're a little better for them. We've also bought breaded tilapia fillets for us and shared them, which they adored. We do a nice herb and wine marinade for grilled salmon that they will eat as well.

Christopher is not so much interested in it, but will tolerate it. Ryan LOVES it! (just like mommy!!)We eat alot of Salmon, Trout, Haddock, Cod, Pollock and Tilapia (which I just tried this summer for hte first time). We are going to talk to the Pedi about shell fish this week (there are no allergies).

We just bake it. We find that sometimes our boys won't eat (anything) unless it has salsa or somekind of Indian spice on their food...hahaa

So you could always try a marinade or a dipping sauce.

I don't think the guidelines have changed as far as limiting fish that may contain hirgher levels of mecury ie-swordfish, shark, makeral, tuna etc...

    good luck!

Max our "anti-eater" loves the breaded cod filets from Sam's Club. I try not to buy the minced fish sticks because it makes me think of mystery meat. Anyway we call him the anti-eater because he hates anything new or non-crunchy. So we tried the breaded cod baked in the oven thinking it would be crunchy enough for him. Well to our amazement you can't get it on his tray quick enough. He just gobbles it down. So he gets it about 2 or 3 times a week. Now he will not eat non-breaded chicken or fish, but I figure at least he is getting some protien down even if it is breaded and I only buy the whole pieces or all white meat.

This is us. No shellfish until 2 due to allergies in my family, but otherwise, they've had all kinds of fish.

My girls have eaten salmon and tilapia. They like it, but I can't say that the love it. We just usually bake it in the oven. No spices or anything like that, just plain. It's a great finger food. Hope that helps.

I'd try tilapia first. If your kids like spicy things, try drizzling it with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Emeril's Essence, and then putting it in the oven at 400F until it flakes easily.

If you don't want spicy, then try a little olive oil, soy sauce and garlic powder. That comes out well, too!
