What else can I smear stuff on?

Hi ladies, I thought I'd pop over here to ask since my guys are nearing the year mark . My question is, do you have any other ideas for things to feed them in the bread/cracker category? Right now they are loving apple butter, but I can't think of what else to put it on besides bread and pancakes and I'd like to give them some variety. They already get bread, waffles/pancakes, graham crackers. Is there any other kind of cracker out there that works for this age group and is "healthy"/non-salty? I feel like I'm feeding them the same thing day after day!

    Thanks!

What about rice cakes, french toast, bagel, english muffin, tortilla?

mine love the new thin bagels smeared with cream cheese. Weve had blueberry and strawberry creamcheese but they seem to really love the garlic and chive!

My guys loooove pita bread!! I tear it into small bits so they can eat it. :good: At about the 1 year mark we started giving them the small whole grain Kashi-type crackers, broken in half. We also did (and still do) the whole grain goldfish crackers. When we're having hamburgers or brats for dinner, I will tear up bits of the bun for them to have with their meal.

What about hummus? My kids will eat it. I am with the other posters about bagels, english muffins and such. My kids like cinnamon raisin bread (brand with out high fructose corn syrup) toasted with butter. In fact, thats whats for breakfast!

Do you like to bake/cook? There is a recipe on weelicious.com for carrot crackers that my boys love. It's basically shredded carrots mixed w/ flour and a bit of oil. It tastes really good and I love that it has some veggies in it.

BTW - Did you know that there is a pear butter too? I never knew until a few months ago and my boys love it.

My boys love raisin bread too and apple raisin pitas. I LOVE that I can just pull them out, toast and serve! Bagels and muffins are other favourites.

Ooh, we're going to have to try pear butter; that sounds fabulous! And I just saw a recipe for something very similar to the carrot sticks someone else mentioned; I'm planning on trying those out this weekend.

Thanks ladies! It sounds like we're already eating most of the suggestions, with a few new ones to try out!
