I know we aren't medical professionals.... but have you seen something similar on your kids? I spoke to nurse and she said it sounded viral. It's all over her body. More raised today, especially on her legs.

Poor Sam had diarrhea for almost 3 wks. A temp of over 105 last week. Now this rash.
Our babysitter has ear infection and pink eye.
My husband has pink eye (dr says viral, not bacterial) and relentless sneezing.
I had a vertigo episode on Thurs.
Syd is doing okay (for the moment).

How many viruses could we possibly have in this house at once???????

try googling roseola - often follows a fever.

Everytime Aaron gets a virus, it ends with a rash. Twice it looked like what you posted, a few times it was peeling of the hands and feet, and some other weird ones. The Dr. told me that there are some kids who do that. When a virus is ending it's life and finally on it's way out, it's last "hurah" is a rash of some sort. His would come and go. I would take him to the Dr. and by the time we got there, it would be gone. We would leave, and a few hours later it would come back. Unless it bothers her, there isn't much to do. It will go away on it's own.

I think it looks like roseola (3 day measles) google it.

Nurse says it's not roseola. Her fever ended about 1 week ago. The rash didn't appear until a week after the fever.

My Zack had one that looked just like that. He had previously had a fever and was sick as well, then broke out in a rash. I took him back to the pedi and it was a rash called 'scarletina' (sp?) it isn't contagious or anything, but can look icky.

I know the nurse said it wasn't, but it really looks like roseola, especially since she did have a very high fever which is always the first symptom of roseola. Maybe this rash just took a little longer to pop-up after the fever broke. Anyway, I agree with the others that it looks viral which is good since it will go away on its own if it is just a virus.

I hope your family is on the mend really soon! I had viral pink-eye last year and it took months to clear up. Steroid drops helped but I had to constantly mop at my eye with a tissue all day :(. I hope your DH's condition doesn't take that long to heal.

Could it be an allergic reaction? Were they on any drugs that they could have had a reaction from? My girls have had rashes from food and med allergies and that is what it looked like, all over their bodies. Check their eyes and see if they are red or swollen around the outside, or if they look sunken in or have dark circles under the eyes - that's another indication of an allergy.

Could be scarlet fever rash...strep throat with a rash. Although I believe that usually appears on the chest first. My oldest ds used to get rash's with EVERYTHING going around.

Whatever it is, I hope its nothing serious and goes away soon!
I just reread what you wrote...could have been rotavirus....a lot of people get a rash with that???

I think it looks like roseola but really any viral illness can end with a rash after even after a week. And I am a medical professional! ;)

Amy had something just like that when she had roseola (at least that's what we think she had -- we didn't get her to the doc until the rash was almost gone and he couldn't diagnose it definitively).

I've also heard that some kids just get rashes at the drop of a hat. If she doesn't seem to feel very sick, it's probably a virus and not anything to worry about. I"m sorry you've been through so much recently!
