ok went for a level 2 ultrasound today. ultrasound tech said the two placentas have merged now due to lack of space. what in the world does that mean??? now i have to sit and stew on that til the dr. sees me next thursday.

I could be wrong but think that is very normal. I think that is one reason why you need a genetic test to find out if babies are ID or frat since often frat placentas will merge so even at birth you sometimes can't tell if there were 1 or 2. Not sure I am expalining that very well.

This has happened to us, too. Started out with two placentas, but now they have merged. I think it's normal and not a cause for concern.

my frat twins always had placentas that were close together.. I think it's fine...just means that it's harder for them to differentiate between where one ends and the other begins.
