Just seeing if I can find any new books for my kids, especially Timothy. Sarah can walk into the library and find anything interesting. Timothy struggles.

Currently, Timothy likes anything by Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson, et al). He also likes Weird School and sports biographies. He likes Magic Treehouse but tends to feel it's too young, though he'll still read it. He does want the new books about Houdini. He loves audio books. Especially the Fudge series by Judy Blume.

Sarah likes most everything Timothy does. She also reads American Girl, Goddess Girls, and anything mythology or horse related.

What are you kids reading? Is there a great new series somewhere that I should find?

Although my kids are only 8, I thought I would add some. Mitchell loves history so he loves all the I survived books, and although they aren't chapter books he loves to read the science books about weird science facts and stuff like that. I love the stories I hear that come from those books the next morning.

Nathan is still hooked on Magic Treehouse Books. He made it through the first of the Harry Potter books, but it took him a very long time. I think he like Magic Treehouse because he can get through on in a couple of days (faster if he reads more on some days). Oh, he did just finish Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis. He was interested in it because we had just listened to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe on CD.

William also likes Magic Treehouse, but his reading is a bit stronger so I encourage him to read other books. He hasn't really found another series to attach to though, so I will definitely be interested in the responses.

Mine are only 8. One likes the Magic Treehouse Fact Tracker books better than the Jack and Annie stories, and other non-fiction about animals especially horses and dogs. They went through a Fairy Magic phase (thank goodness that's over) and have recently discovered Enid Blyton's books which are harder to find in the US.

Diary of a Wimpy kid series
    Amulet series
Sir Cumference series (non fiction math based)
Captain Underpants series (though the toilet talk can be annoying)
    James Patterson's Middle school series
John Grisham's Theodore Boone series (Audio is great in the car as grown-ups like this series too)

My 9 year old boy is not a huge reader, so I am constantly looking for stuff he will read.

My boys are avid readers, two years ago, at 9, Marcus read all of the Rick Riorden books, all the Brandon Mull--especially the Fablehaven series, and the Harry Potter books. Jonathan read the Harry Potter books about 4 times through, anything by Dan Gutman--especially the Genius Files (Marc and Jon have a credit in book 3), and, crazily enough, tried to read the Lord of the Rings--he got about 1/2 way through before it became too much.
