What do you use when you have to lose the mobile?

I'm going to have to remove the mobiles from our cribs.

I'm dreading this b/c the boys are sooo easy to put down for naps. I give them a 30 second cuddle/rock, lay them down, and turn on the mobile. They smile, roll over and sing them selves to sleep as soon as the mobile is done.

I'm afraid w/o the mobile naptime will turn into an ugly mess.

    Any recommendations?

    Hi!

We have the aquarium also, and for Christmas, I got them this. It has a 5 or 10 minute timer, plays a lullaby, and makes a really cute moving pic on the ceiling. If you are using it for naps, I would only buy it if their room is fairly dark during the day.

I don't turn on the mobiles for naps because the noise prevents them from falling asleep. Instead I clip a baby toy on the side of the crib, and that distracts them long enough for their eyes to grow heavy. (We still have some crying and fussing, but the toy helps out!)

I would just assume that they will be fine. I gave mine a little stuffed thing to chew on and they loved that.

Also, you can hang the little figures from the ceiling alone. Just pin them (not sure how is best) to the ceiling. They can see them but they are far away and can't pull on them anymore.

I don't remember an issue with removing the mobiles.....don't give them excuses [IMG]

I put in toys that play soothing music and they hook on to the side of the crib. My boys enjoyed that. Now they have nothing because they can stand and they would use those to pull themselves up. Good luck!
