Thanks all for your opinion... DH and I can't decide!! We are using the first one .. but can't decide on the second

    Aviva - Hebrew for spring
    Gila - Hebrew for Joy
Ellie (Elisheva) - Hebrew for Elizabeth

What country do you live in? If you are in the states, I wouldn't go with something that you have to provide pronunciation explanations for (Gila) , but that's just my opinion. Aviva is interesting, and growing on me! Ellie is really cute.

ellie is my daughters name (english). her hebrew name is elisheva. so i'm partial to that name. we were considering aviva for our other daughters middle name but went with Shira because we liked the meaning of that name (song) more in the end. Gila isn't my favorite but i like what it means. are you more interested in name or meaning?

Thank you so much for your opinion! I hope you check in and read this again. I like Gila because of how short and simple it is. Elisheva is just a little longer, and not sure if we would always want to say it... might likely shorten it to Ellie. So, at school does your daughter go by Elisheva or Ellie? We are down to the wire here only a couple of days left!!
Aviva and Gila or Aviva and Elisheva??!! I think they all have nice meanings, I'm more interested in how they sound. Is Gila too out there?

I like Ellie the best. All three are fine.

What about Ellie Gila and Aviva (????????)

I like Ellie and Aviva together as they both start with vowels.

One of the pp mentioned the name Shira. Would Aviva Shira work for the 2nd girl????

I like Ellie the best then Aviva. Personally I don't like Gila.

Growing up my first name was Mary, middle name Alison. I always went by Alison. I HATED the fact that at the beginning of EVERY school year the teacher had me listed as Mary since it was my legal name and despite my parents trying to have me listed as Alison. It still makes me cringe today thinking about it. It was humiliating for me in front of my peers. I think your dd could have a similar experience if you are in America and she is called Ellie but her legal name is Elisheva.

    Aviva and Gila,
I like that they are both short one syllable names,

Now if only I could get started on picking out my own names!
