Just curious what everyone else sings -- I'm pretty sure people would think I'm nuts, if they heard what comes out of my mouth as I take care of my kiddos, LOL.

    Here's what I typically sing:

-- Run for the Roses by Dan Fogelberg

-- Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams

-- Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton (it's on the Philadelphia Chickens CD)

-- the Scooby Doo intro song

-- an old Coke commercial (I'd like to teach the world to sing....)

-- an old deodarant commercial (Confidence, confidence, dry and secure, raise your hands, raise your hands if you're Sure)

I do sing plenty of traditional children's songs, but this type of stuff just pops into my head. So, share what you like to sing!

LOL! I sing allll the time to my little guys and am notorious for mixing up/messing up the lyrics.
    Currently, I've been signing:
The Lollipop song by the Chordettes
It's Getting Hot in Here - Nelly (during diaper and clothes changes) :p
    The Pina Colata song
    And...
I've made up my own lyrics to the Yakety Yak (Don't Talk Back) song and various others.

I sing them songs that I sang while I was pregnant with them ... "Must Be Doing Something Right" and "You're Just Too Good to be True"
    I sing a song to the Mickey Mouse beat ... c-o-n-n-o-r, c-h-a-s-e!!!

And DH sings to them that doo-ron-ron song, with his own lyrics ... "I have a baby and his name is Chase, daydoo ron ron ron, day doo ron ron ...."

My list is long! My 2 year old LOVES to sing (I can hear him singing in his bed right now...) so we sing to the babies all day long. Our list includes:

    Rubber Ducky
    Longer--Dan Fogelberg
    you are my sunshine
    bluebird
    In my daughter's eyes--Martina McBride
lots of primary songs from church
    lots of musical theater songs
    sesame street
    twinkle twinkle/alphabet

the list goes on...but that will do for now. I am so anxious to hear what everyone else sings!

I sing little love songs that my mom sang to me. And I sing old hymns like Jesus loves me or Amazing Grace. They won't cringe when I hit a sour note. :rotflmbo:
    So I sing anything.

Lots of stuff... Songs or verses that I tend to make up just for them:

Le Freak (Chic) - "Aww Kev-in! Le Freak, C'est Chic"

"Kevin and Patrick sitting in a tree, they're the best friends that they could be...."

    You get the picture. ;)

    Mine like:
Popeye the Sailor man (they especially like the 'toot toot' part)
C is for Cookie (That's good enough for me!)
    That's Amore
    Oh Marie!
    Eh, Cumpari (ci vo sunari)

Lots of others, but lately they've been digging on the Italian songs

When I have run out of ideas for kids songs, I hit the Christmas tunes! And this is dh's reaction every time...

I mostly do "custom" songs depending on what they boys are up to. It might be a song about why they need to take a nap or about how they need a diaper change, or even just about how completely cute they are!

The greatest hit right now is a Greek kids' song called "to kokoraki" (the rooster). (I'm American, but studied in Greece for a while, and DH is Greek.) It's sort of like an Old MacDonald song - you can keep adding animals. Lyrics (translated) are "When I go to the market, I'll buy you a rooster, and the rooster - kikirikiki (= Eng. cockadoodledoo) - will wake you up every morning." You keep adding another animal, and the list gets longer and longer. They adore it.

Sometimes I change the lyrics: "I'll buy you to twins, and the twins - waawaawaawaawaa - will wake you up every night."

Thank goodness, I am not the only one that doesn't just sing lullabye's! My DH and I both sing "Thunder Road" to them. I sing "Chantilly Lace"..."Lollipop"..."Brown-eyed Girl" (which my son LOVES)..."Blueberry Hill"...and whatever CD's I pick out from my collection for us to listen to that day. The babies really seem to love ROCK...Led Zep...The Who...oh, and CCR.

    What a great question!!!!

DH and I love music so we always have something on - usually U2 or DMB or Flogging Molly, which the babies seem to like. But then, they just generally seem to like music - it doesn't really matter what. Other things I sing:

You are my sunshine (but I sometimes sing "you are my monkey . . ." instead)
the theme to the Adams Family
We Love you Conrad - from Bye Bye Birdie (but I change it to "I love you Kellen" and "I love you Colby" instead)
"Kellen Kellen Bo Bellen Banana Fanna Fo Fellen . . ." (you get the picture)
and yes, Baby got Back (don't laugh - it works!!!!)

Anything with hand motions is a winner; itsy bitsy spider and swing low sweet chariot are their favorites. Otherwise, anything that comes to mind...
    Scarlet Ribbons
    Sweetheart Tree
    Hi Lily Hi Lo
    Edilweiss
The Bird Woman (from Mary Poppins)
On the street where you live

I get a lot of them from musicals and disney.

I like to sing Patty Cake to the boys. It is responsible for their first "social smiles". For the life of me, I can't remember the whole thing, so I just wing it.

This is too funny!! I swore I would never tell anyone. I never knew any baby lullabyes. So I have always sung Lionel Richies or is it Stevie Wonder?? "I just called to say I love you".

I've got into the habit (and I guess it's become part of our bedtime routine) of singing "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine" to both of them. Lately there's been no fussing with putting them to bed once I sing the song ;) DH likes to sing the Stevie Wonder song "you are the sunshine of my life."

I forgot two of the most important ones! I sing "Dear Eloise" by the Hollies everyday to my daughter who is named after that song!! I have also changed the lyrics to the song from Mary Poppins, "It's a jolly holiday with Mary"....to "it's a Jolly holiday with Lincoln, Lincoln makes your heart feel light....." Those are "their songs". I love reading everyone else's posts! now I have some more songs to add to my list!

This is sooooo funny! I'm stealing your song for changing time too!

They LOVE the Rehab song by Amy Winehouse. Especially when she goes, "I said, NO, NO, NO". This may be a little taboo for singing to babies, but since they don't understand the words, what the hey. I think they like when mommy dances around the room to it like a moron! As soon as it comes on, they start bouncing up and down and laughing. And I do the "no, no, no" right in their faces. So funny....

I love seeing you say you sing the old Coke song...I just did that the other day. I sing many tunes throughout the day but recently the Oscar Mayer bologna song has been popular.

I sang "Everyday" by Buddy Holly to my dd#1 (who is now 7) and I have sang it to each child ever sense. In fact when they get sick they ask me to sing the "Rollercoster Song" as the call it. ;)

Call me crazy, but I sing hymns. If they're going to memorize something, it might as well be something worthwhile, right?
    I like:
    Trust and Obey
    Crown him with many crowns
When we walk with the Lord
    Softly and Tenderly
    Jesus loves me

We used to sing Trust and Obey as we walked them up to bed and they started crying every time they heard it. I'm sure they will be in therapy when they are 20 and they start crying everytime it is sung in church....

My niece was over about a month ago, and she was singing the "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine" song, and also "Skin-a-ma-rink-a-dink-a-doo" (SP?) and those got stuck in my head so I sing those now also. And this may sound funny, but when I was little, my dad used to whistle Yankee Doodle all the time cuz it was his favorite song (still does actually! :p). The boys think it's a facinating sound to hear me whistle anything really.

We sing a couple of the songs already mentioned but another couple that we sing are:

"Hello Jaedyn, why Hello Jaedyn It's so nice to have you here where you belong..." (to the tune of Hello Dolly).
A, You're Adorable (The Alphabet Love Song)
and I Have a Little Shadow

Oh and of course "Hands up, Baby Hands up"!

I have to admit that in the car we listen to more grown up songs - Sweet Child of Mine and Sweetest Thing are two we play a lot but the favourite is Steal my Kisses by Ben Harper.
