I've always needed something crunchy to eat with my sandwiches, ie: chips. I will give my kids some, but not on a regular basis, an only after they've eaten some of their food.

I'm just looking to see what else you serve with sandwiches. I've done raisins and pretzels, and today did animal crackers. Oh, and fruit usually too.

    Anything else out there?!?

I make tortilla chips which they love and cucumber, carrots, celery slices are a big hit for crunchiness. Also, we eat crackers with hummus with our sandwiches. :)

My boys love those veggie straw things, we eat those a lot with sandwiches for some crunch. Sometimes we do gogurts too!

Crunchy: Raw carrots, peppers (green or red), cucumbers, broccoli, pirates booty, crackers, apple slices. Other things that my girls eat with sandwiches for lunch are: applesauce, steamed veggies, banana, cheese slices/sticks... I'm drawing a blank for anything else.

We serve mostly fruit and/or soup with sandwiches. Sometimes carrots and hummus.

We always have cheese and "salad" with sandwiches. The salad is not real salad but a selection of cut up raw vegetables-carrots, cucumber, pepper, celery and cherry tomatoes-which ones depends on who's eating it because they like different things. Or they might have coleslaw instead.
Depending on what is in the sandwiches they will also have some protein, usually ham or chicken (if we have leftover from a roast) but sometimes tuna mayonnaise or prawns or, if I can be bothered to make it, a hard boiled egg cut into chunks.
Olives are popular as well, they get those if there are any in the fridge.

We have fruit or yoghurt as "dessert". They only get crisps (chips) with their sandwiches as a special treat (at a party, on a picnic etc).

I know they aren't as good as veggies by a long shot, but my kids love those vegetable straws you get at Costco. I am bad, though, and also give them chips, tortilla chips and salsa, crackers, and still lil' crunchies with sandwiches because like you I just think chips and sandwiches go together!

It's not crunchy, but my girls like tomato soup. I put it in a cup for them and they drink it.

Usually just fruit. I figure they get enough protein and grain in a sandwich, and they don't like veggies much... heck they don't like sandwiches either. They just eat the bread <_< I'm a total chips addict but I try to avoid them for my kids, they've only had them at parties... really nothing healthy or nutritious in them.

I don't know if I'm adding anything new, but we usually have fruit (apples/bananas/oranges usually), teddy grahams, gold fish, yogurt, sometimes a fruit bar, cheese (if there's not cheese on the sandwich)...
    nothing too exciting over here!

Sometimes, I just put the fruit and yogurt together and make them a smoothie to drink with their sandwich. They love this! I don't have an exact recipe, just kinda throw things in the blender, lol. Most recently, one they gobbled up was frozen bananas and strawberries, pineapple juice, and some vanilla yogurt. It was yummy!

Thanks everyone! They've had just about everything on these lists, excpet the smoothies. I have yet to make them one. I just introduced them to gogurt and they LOVE them. I honestly have nothing in the cabinets to serve with sandwiches except animal crackers. And the only veggie I can give them is cucumbers. But even that depends on the day! HA!

Oh, and they LOVE those veggie straws from Costco. I will pick some more up when I am there. I now need to write all of this stuff down! Thanks again!

I can't wait until the fruit is in season here too. Will certainly help the pocketbook!

I'm so boring, I make them eat their sandwich first, then usually a banana or other fruit, maybe some cheese sticks, or some yogurt. Then I usually give them cheese puffs for dessert :)

I like chips with my sandwiches, too, but so far I have managed to avoid the habit with the kids. They usually just eat the sandwich & then they have fruit after. :pardon:

Mine have never had chips with sandwiches, we eat many different things, but it has never been chips or chocolate. We have every kind of vegetable, soup, fruit, cheese, humous, cream cheese, salads (greek and strawberry spinach are favorites), crackers with cheese or vegetables on them, pasta salad, fruit sauce and dates.
