I am sure this info is somewhere on here but we're all sick here with some nasty colds and I need a nap. :) I just wanted to find out what everyone is/were feeding their 9 month olds. When we went to their 9 month appointment the DR said they could start eating "table" foods. They're still eating stage 2 foods! I don't know if I just don't experiment enough or what. I know I am a nervous nelly about them choking so I need to get past that. I just don't know what I should be feeding them at this stage or what a rough daily feeding schedule looked like. Anyone want to help me out? :) Thanks so much!

If your nervous, I would just start with the finger food you find in the baby section. You know the stuff (can't think of what it's all called right now lol), but it dissolves in their mouth. Gives them a chance to practice putting stuff in their mouth and gumming it. Then start with over cooked noodles, that's fun! you can find rice noodles, thats all we use anyway. it's healthier and you know they have had rice cereal right?

Here is a list of finger foods that mom's have suggested here on TS and here is a thread that has some examples of schedules for 9 month olds. Hope that will help you out!

Caleb is 9 mo old today, and his table foods so far have included kix cereal, cheerios, baby mum mums (LOVE THESE- at walmart), bread, spaghetti with sauce, blueberry pancakes, bananas, peas, meatloaf, salmon patties (like a crabcake, but salmon), pears, and celery (cold, for teething). Our pedi said just about anything is game except peanut products and shellfish, but since he only has 2 teeth, that's the limiting factor. our schedule is as follows:
    7 am- Breastmilk
    10 am- Breastmilk
11:30am- small bit of table food (maybe 2 oz, he's still getting used to it,and a 3-4 oz stage 2 food)
    1 pm- Breastmilk
    4 pm- Breastmilk
5:30 pm-More table food, as much as he'll allow, and jar food to make up for whatever table food he doesn't eat
    7 pm Breastmilk

Throw in a little midnight snack of BM, too as he still doesn't STTN and is underweight.
I figure in the next month we'll add in breakfast table food, too.

i was also super paranoid about choking so i just cut everything up into teeny tiny pieces. when it seemed like they were tolerating the teeny tiny pieces ok, i went to just tiny pieces and so on. i basically gave them anything that seemed healthy and they would eat. i didn't get brave enough to do cheerios until they were 10 months, they seemed so hard, but they did great with them.

I'm in the same boat as you are trying to figure out all the different things they can eat.
Finger foods I have given them so far:
soft/steamed veggies cut up really small
    kernels of corn
    peas
    goldfish
    crackers
    cheerios
    noodles
    apples (w/ and w/o cinnamon)
    banana

Obviously I need to branch out a bit more but I am working on that day by day. Basically anything that seems healthy and soft enough that I could mash up with a fork. I still give them puree foods that I made for them during regular meal times. Ore schedule is like this...

    Wake up/nurse 7:00am
    breakfast 8:00am
    snack 9:00am
    nap 9:30am
    nurse 11:30am
    lunch 12:30pm
    snack 1:15pm
    nap 1:30pm
    nurse 3:30pm
    snack 4:00pm
    dinner 5:30pm
    bath,nurse,bed 7:00pm

If I have things to do or errands to run some of the times can be flexible or I can just bring a snack with me for if they need it.

I look forward to seeing what suggestions everyone else has. :)

Here's what our schedule looks like at almost 10 months.

    Wake 7am - Nurse
    8:15 Breakfast - usually oatmeal w/ applesauce & a yogurt
    9:30 nap
12:00 Lunch - 3 containers of Stage 2 baby foods
    1:30 or 2:00 Nurse
    2:00ish nap
4:30 snack - usually a banana or yogurt
5:30 dinner - depends on what we're having for dinner
    7:00 nurse & bedtime

Here's a short list of some of the "table foods" that we've given our girls:

    • Green Beans
      Peas
      Mac N Cheese
      Spaghetti
      Bread
      Bananas
      Grapes (halved & skinned)
      Peaches

The also love any of the Gerber Graduates: Lil Crunchers, Puffs, Wagon Wheels, etc, etc. And Baby Mum Mum's are their all-time favorite snack.

I started out the with Puff because they basically dissolve in their mouths then we worked our way up to harder to chew foods. Both my girls still only have their bottom two teeth but they do just fine chewing up whatever we give them so far.

Good Luck! Feeding the table food is lots of fun - but can be pretty messy!

Thanks so much everyone! Looks like I definitely have a lot of branching out to do. I'll have to get brave and start trying more things. What on earth are Baby Mum Mums?? LOL I've never seen those! Also - when is it ok to start eating strawberries?

    Hey Lisa,

Baby Mum-mums are these Rice wafers. They dissolve easily. They can hold them in their hands and gnaw on them. They don't last too long but they really like them. I also just bought mine the Earth's Best fruit & grain granola bars that were in the baby food aisle. I was afraid of them choking on it but they actually do pretty well with them. They make a mess but I figure it gives them something different and a different texture to try out. I got strawberry flavored ones, not sure if that is different from eating actual strawberries.

Don't feel bad Lisa. I haven't tried any table foods. Mine are still on the stage 2 baby food also. I do give them Baby MumMums (I call them surf boards), Puffs, wagon wheels, YoBaby yogurt and teething biscuits. Kelsey hates puffs. Kelsey just cut two teeth, Ryley still has none. I don't think I gave Korey table food until he was around 11 months old and had four teeth. Mine def aren't ready. They gag with textured baby food.
