What do you do with their old baby clothes?

I have finally decided to do a mom to mom sale. I dread organizing and folding their clothes they have out grown, BUT I LOVE to buy them clothes. I swear it is a hobby for me. I love baby clothes and these 2 are my last and twin boy girl coordinating outfits. I am unstoppable!! :D Now I am paying. I am trying to put them in bins according to size and asking $1 for each piece. I have so many bags to go thru yet.

I am happy to sell the bigger items but I am wondering if I should just donate the clothes and save myself the hassle. Or am I being lazy???

    Thanks for your input :D

I have a cousin who has a new baby and his family budget is extremely tight....and he has a little girl and I have SO much girl stuff, so I decided that I am just going to hand down most of our things....they are so appreciative and it makes me feel better that someone else is getting use out of these things that I bought that my girls wore or used for one or two months....

I would try to sell them. Just think the money you make, you can buy more clothes. :p

    Whatever doesn't sell donate.

I donate all of mine. I figure I can get more in tax deductions than I can by selling them on Craigslist or at twin club sales... and there's no work, just an easy drop off at Goodwill!

I just purchased quite a bit of matchy stuff for my guys at our Twin Mom To Mom sale....and I can tell you I was SOOOO happy to purchase it, and to be using it already!

I am however going to pass along alot of it to another boy/boy twin Mom that I have recently met!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I donate all of our stuff, unless we hear about someone needing gear. It's easier for me to get the tax write-off than to have to deal with selling everything. Maybe one day I'll change that thought, but that's what I've been doing for now.

I do both. Name brand stuff in very good - excellent condition, I sell, either on ebay or a clothing forum I'm on. That's pretty much my money to buy more clothes from ebay or the clothing forum! The stuff I don't sell, or is a lesser brand like Target stuff, Old Navy, Children's Place, I take to the consignment shop. Anything else, I donate. Most of their infant clothes I ended up giving away on Freecycle or to other people with babies because I didn't know what I was doing yet, had no clue how the resale stuff worked. I cringe at some of the higher end stuff I gave away, but oh well, hope someone made good use of it.

I've donated and sold most of ours but this memory quilt looked like a great idea. I think it is a bit pricey so I would probably make my own. I have kept a few of my most favorite outfits for each of my kids. Mostly stuff that they had their pictures in.

I love that! I am going to start setting aside some stuff for one. I really like it....as a matter of fact I have some clothes of my older kids that I think I will turn them into those....and present their wives those at baby showers in the future....(they are 16 & 17)
    NEATO! NEATO! NEATO!

I'm glad you liked the idea! I like the future baby shower idea :good:
I was just thinking since most of the stuff I've saved I have pictures of them in I might just photo copy those pictures onto fabric and put those in the quilt too. Of course I won't be doing any of this soon ;)

I sell some of the stuff that is matching, worn very little, in really good shape, extra cute. Some I saved (not sure we are done yet). The rest I give to people I know. DH has a friend whose 20 year old has a little girl and she has no money. Or my sister's neighbor had quads, two of them are girls.

I have been sorting through clothes this week, oh my gosh, there's so much!

I say sell the clothes if you have the patience. I have no patience so I pass ours on.

I donate all my clothes to a another set of girls twins a year younger who I have never met, but heard of thru someone else, bad place financially, so I feel good and I don't have the hassle of selling stuff. And I feel good because the clothes are being reused by twins and not "split up" haha oh and apparently she has a friend with younger twins still, who they also get even further passed down too.

I sold 2 bins full at our October sale and made about $350. I sold just about everything I took. However, I sold our clothes for more than that based on condition, brand, number of pieces, ect. If you are only wanting $1 a piece, it would be a lot easier to take your stuff to someplace like Once Upon a Child.

I sold in my twins club spring sale for the first time and made about $350. I figure I'll make more than that in the fall becausing I'm going to sell some of their toys and equipment also, bouncing zebras, music table, etc. That stuff all sold really quickly at our sale. I'm using the earnings to buy Christmas gifts.

I keep a lot of it because we plan on having more kids but everything else goes to our twins club sale. I make a lot from clothes at that sale twice a year.

I've got them all in bins. I can't bear to part with them! I'd love to have a little girl, but I keep thinking if we have another boy, I've got his wardrobe covered! :)

It's up to you! Personally I wouldn't want to go to all that trouble for $1 a bin -- if I were going to sell them, I'd sell them for more. We give ours away to friends with younger kids, mostly for two reasons: 1) We got most of them as hand-me-downs, so we're passing on the karma; 2) Because they were hand-me-downs already, they are not in stellar shape. Plus, I don't feel like dealing with selling stuff.

all Ian's boy clothes I take to work for a girl thats got a little boy thats 15 mos younger than my twins (but is a bigger boy so he fits into the clothes) - the rest gets donated...I don't have the time or patience to sort through the stuff...

I donate DS's clothes to my SIL who has a little boy and DD's clothes to my SIL or a friend. I feel a little obligated to do this because they have given my two little ones clothes. If you have someone you can donate them to then I say go for it. However, if you need the money to buy more clothes then take the time to sell them . . . someone will appreciate a cheap buy.

For us we need $$$ toward to our twins. We have no liviing relatives helping us out every once in a while. We pay for everything on our own which is hard on us at times when need to stay within our budget. So, I do have a few items that I take to "Goodwill".

I know the pain of trying to sell on craiglist and local yard sales. I am currently doing it but I made $105 today! :) The monies goes toward to new clothes/age approx. new toys for the next level.
