I am about to sell a bin full on Craigslist and I am wondering how do you go about deciding on a price for the outfits????

    Thanks

I would say put a garage sale price on each outfit, total it up and add a bit more. They will likely talk you down on what you want for the outfits so this way it gives you wiggle room to negotiate.

I saved one diaper box full of some stuff to bring to a consignment shop and donated eight trash bags full of excellent to very good condition clothes. I found out about a charity that was desperate for baby girl clothing in the size I had to offer.

I just donated 11 bags of clothes to the Salvation Army - I couldn't be bothered to price out and yard sale that much stuff!

I normally donate. I did find a resale shop with a shortage of the type of clothes I had most recently, and I sold those to the resale shop. It wasn't big money, but it was nice. These were mostly very nice clothes that my mother had bought at her resale shop, still in fabulous shape because there were so many there was no way I could wear them all out!

Generally, though, I just donate clothes they've grown out of.

I sell ours on eBay. If you have any name brands people buy! They pay a lot more than garage sale prices or craigslist in my experience. I would donate, but we really need the $$$ our income has been pretty severely depleted since we are now a 1 income family.

We normally just donate as well. As far as pricing them, my only suggestion would be to see what similar things are going for on eBay or similar.

I put mine in consignment. Less money, but a lot less work!

I've only had to do this once as they have only outgrown one size, but I took them HERE.

It is a children's resale shop. They will pay you cash (they determine how much) OR they will give you store credit (this is always much more.) For my small bag of clothing, I got $50 in store credit. I used the store credit to buy pajamas for the girls and it went a long way with most items being priced below $10. They only take nice clothing from sellers so you can get name-brand clothes for way cheap! Some items even still have the original price tags. They also buy/sell toys and baby gear.

They may not have this particular chain where you live, but they may have something similar.

I pass my stuff on to other moms in our mothers of multiples club. Another mom there passes to me as well. It works really well. :)

I usually give mine to friends or donate, but a couple times I've taken some to The Children's Orchard (a place like the one 'Outnumbered' mentioned). They give you cash or store credit. The closest one to me is about an hour and a half away, though, so I don't go very often...

I braved a yard sale when the babies were about 6 mos. old (without much help besides babysitting from my hubby!). I did some "research" before my sale...I have a friend who had enough clothes for a boy or girl (singleton mom) for the first 2 years of life all from yard sales...I picked her brain about pricing and the max she would pay, because I didn't want to "give" it away too cheap, or overprice. I also found some sites online that suggested hanging up as much as possible--that display matters.

So what I did was use our EZ-Up canopy to hang up all the sleep-n-plays and outfits, and all the onesies, pants, socks and shoes on a table. I also hung up a lot of my maternity clothes...I advertised serveral times for about a week on Craigslist, and we put signs up the morning of. I also live on a corner, so that helps too. I got rid of nearly EVERYTHING! Many people had seen it on Craigslist, and I also got lots of compliments on how clean and undamaged hte clothes were...(I'm finding it more challenging to keep things looking new now w/ the onset of SOLIDS!) I think I made close to $175, and I don't think any of my outfits were over $2 or $3...I priced all the sleep-n-plays $0.75-$1 (a lot were cute Carter's), onesies at $0.25, pants at $0.50, socks $0.25/pair...I had a few bigger items like a hand-me-down swing, extra bath tub, and some other stuff + maternity. I bought the family lunch at In-N-Out, then hubby and I took the babies to mall to the Children's Place and Carter's outlet to get new bigger stuff for the babies...that was the best part that made all the work worth it! I'm due for another, and will try and do it before their first b-day so maybe I can go b-day shopping!

I rent a table at a mom to mom sale. I went to my 1st one last fall and I made about $250 (mostly in clothes). It doesn't take a lot of work and the money came in very handy. I am signed up for another one in March.

The Junior League holds a Kidz Klozet sale twice a year. It's a huge event and unbelievable how many parents come to the sale. They have to have local police officers and deputies for traffic control and parking. They only take clothing or items in excellent condition and the prices you get are much above yard sale valuation. We not only take the boys clothing and items they have outgrown there, but we purchase from there as well. The Junior League works the sale, you have a seller number that you pin or tape to your item along with the amount you want and at the end of the sale they take a small percentage and send you a check for all items sold. There is no haggling over price. They have a wonderful record keeping system. If you want your items back that didn't sell a few days later you go and pick them up, otherwise you can check that you want the items donated. My daughter netted several hundred dollars for items she sold at the last event and we only had a few big ticket items.
