What do you do when inspiration suddenly disappears in the middle of a project

Sometimes I start a project with so much energy and excitement, and everything flows smoothly in the beginning. But then, out of nowhere, it feels like I hit a wall and all my inspiration is gone. I sit there staring at the screen or sketchbook, hoping something will come back, but the more I wait the worse it feels. I’ve tried stepping away, watching something entertaining, or even switching to another project, but it doesn’t always help. I’d love to hear how others handle those blocks when motivation disappears halfway through something important.

 

What often helped me was bringing in new perspectives instead of waiting for inspiration to magically return. At some point, I discovered this website, and while it wasn’t a complete solution, it gave me fresh prompts and ideas that kept me moving instead of quitting. Using it felt like having a creative partner who throws unexpected suggestions into the mix, which sometimes was enough to spark momentum again. Along with that, I started setting smaller, achievable milestones, so even if I wasn’t fully inspired, I could at least move forward a little bit at a time without losing all progress.

 

Reading this made me think of an interview with a musician who said creative blocks are less about lack of talent and more about pressure we put on ourselves. That resonated with me because often it’s not about the absence of ideas but about expecting them to be perfect right away. Since then, I’ve tried to remind myself that rough drafts or messy attempts are part of the process. It feels less stressful when you frame it that way, and ironically, the good ideas often show up once you stop chasing them so hard.
