First, OMG, my girls are turning 2 next week...again OMG! Has it been 2 years? Just knock me over the head [IMG]

So, DH and I had planned on buying a big swingset, you know the expensive, wood kind of swingset. But, I just don't think they are big enough this year to really climb up it and swing on a regular swing (they already have infant swings and they want in them but immediately want down). So, I think we will wait til next year for that. So, we really don't know what to do now. They have a lot of toys already. We thought maybe a play kitchen set for their playroom.

Anybody have an opinion or any other good ideas? TIA!

The kitchen would be a great idea. We got one for my oldest DD when she turned 2 and she loved it. What about Little People, if they don't already have those.

    We are getting the boys:

~a little tikes kitchen (found on eBay for $40!)
    ~a sandbox (DH made it!)
    ~books, books, books
    ~play foods/dishes/cookware
    ~MORE play tools

At Christmas they received a barn and lots of those little people animals and people and LOVE playing with those.

We went with the kitchen and it has been a bit hit. Also, my sister got them an art easel which they enjoy as well.

How funny---mine were born on the 8th of March as well! It is BIZZARE how 2 years just passed by! My mom is getting them a play kitchen for their birthday. I think she will have to buy a decent sized one, since they will probably be both using it at the same time. Also, for their party, I was thinking of buying them a little toddler jumper. They have a castle one at Toys R Us for about 50-60$. Right now we also have a Little Tykes Wave Climber outside and that has served us pretty well, and we will be using it for quite some time. We just recently got some FP Little People sets, and they like the little animals. They are starting to like that.

    Good luck and happy birthday!

It really depends on what your each individual child like to play with. I know my 4 year olds dont enjoy the same activities. What one like the other doesnt. The same goes for the two older kids that I have.I can tell you I never had any luck with the large toys unless they were outside toys for any of my kids. I have had luck with Discovery toys and their whole line, They are durable and offer lifetime replacement, how great is that when you have two little boys tearing everything apart in the house they get their hands on. If you need help finding them I can e-mail you some info.

I can't imagine at 2 your's wouldn't be able to play on a swingset. My boys got thiers for Christmas just after they turned 1. They were 1 year 9 months during the summer and within 2 weeks they were climbing up the ladder easily. Michael even mastered the rock wall well before he turned 2.

A play kitchen is really great too, my boys do love thiers.

My kids had gotten so many new toys for Christmas that most of their 2nd birthday gifts were outdoor toys. They got a sandbox, basketball goal, golf set, bubble mowers, & tricycles. They also love their play kitchen that they just got for Christmas.

Wendy, I KNOW!!! IT FLEW BY, RIGHT!?!? [IMG] we went with tricycles for two years and they still have to be assembled (arrived yesterday after 3 weeks [IMG] but I digress....

I would think that they CAN climb up and slide down etc. with supervision. When we went to Amanda's house to play, she had a big fort with a slide and the ladder was a closed type and they both climbed it and slid down the slide!! So it's possible! [IMG]

I'm thinking of kitchen and train table for Christmas - needed a "no small parts" celebration for their bday! [IMG]

Have fun!! I can hardly believe how fast it's going!!

For us...age 2 meant CRAFT TIME!

DH put a wall of white board in their playroom so they could marker all over it and they did.

We put a Little Tykes picnic table in there so they could do their crafts.

We got them tons of play dough and play dough toys, finger paints, water colour paint, washable markers and construction paper and big sheets of newsprint for their easels.

I also bought big sheets of canvas to put on the floor so they could paint inside + some oversized paint smocks. I put their names on them with liquid embroidery paint.

They still love their craft room. It occupies them for long periods of time and each season it is stocked with stuff. Right now they have peel and stick foam easter stickers, foil easter stickers, purple and yellow construction paper etc.

How about a sand/water table since summer is coming. My girls love it. Also a play kitchen is great too, but buy that for Christmas when they will be stuck inside in the winter!!
