I just got back from my u/s at my peri office (last time i saw her was 3 weeks ago, they were 2lbs 1oz & 2lbs 4oz) Everything was looking good on the girls, but baby A was 3lbs 4oz; and baby B was 2lbs 14 oz. When I asked if this was ok difference she said that it was 10% and it was still ok. So I go back to see her in 3 weeks.

I did have an u/s inbetween that time when i went to L&D (on monday it will be 2 weeks ago) and they were measuring 2lbs 7oz and 2 lbs 8oz. I know that all u/s machines are different so I don't know if that even makes a difference or not..

Im kinda anxious about this for some reason...i don't know if it is maybe because 1 twin just rounded the next lb and so it just makes it seem bigger..

My question is at what point does the difference become something to worry about?

I know at my doctor it's 20% difference. If they aren't worried about it, you shouldn't either.

The way they explained it to me was they take the weights and add them, and then divide them by the bigger one. So even though there is only a few ounce difference, it could be a higher percentage because they are so small.

10% is normal I think. I know at my last ultrasound, my boys were 24% difference, so I'm on bed rest.

    Good luck!

i can't remember what my doctor's percentage was, but my girls were 1.5 lbs different at birth & were fine. they were midly concerned leading up to the delivery because my baby B was the bigger of the two. my OB wanted me to have a c-section but i fought for a vaginal birth & had one with no complications.

At 20% is when my peri starts to watch for TTTS or other IUGR complications. However, it's not just the size difference. They will also look at fluid levels and bladder function. My girls are mono/di also and have measured over 40% difference so I'm on hospital bed rest with 5 days to go!

My MFM was concerned with anything approaching 20%. We had an 18% discordance and she put me on bedrest - it must have worked as they only had a 4oz difference between them at birth!

We also heard the 20% statistic. For TTTS, what is actually more important is the fluid levels.
