I'm not officially on bedrest for PTL, it just hurts so much every time I get vertical. Besides PBJs, what can be kept in a cooler all day? Thanks for any advice!

(Mods, is this appropriate to crosslink to First Year? Thank you.)

I know some people say deli meat is a no-no, but I have turkey and cheese sandwiches. If you like chicken salad maybe you could have that kind of sandwich. Lunch time is hard to have a variety when DH packs a cooler.

By the time I was on bedrest, I could not eat much at one time, so for me it was a ton of snacky type things. Hummus and crackers, pb and celery sticks, carrots, yogurt, cottage chese, bagels and cream cheese etc... Or, even a full pint of ice cream...joking...partly.

You could do chicken salad wraps, or crab salad, egg salad. Not sure what else, the rest of my 6 weeks of bedrest was in the hospital so I could order up stuff.

    Good luck!

Whatever my DH packed in my cooler!!!

Actually, I LIVED on PBJs while I was pregnant, especially on bedrest. I also ate a lot of the canned Costco chicken (DH would mix it with some mayo and a dash of Emeril's seasoning) on sandwiches. For breakfast, I always had a PBJ. For lunch, typically the chicken (or a turkey sandwich with a big ol slice of cheese). For snacks, I would eat yogurt, string cheese, nuts, carrot sticks, apple slices, and cottage cheese.

    Chicken salad
    Egg salad
Protein bars (never want to see these again)
    Macaroni or pasta salad
    Veggies and dip
    Fruit and fruit dip

I was totally in love with PB&J's while pregnant, so those kept me pretty happy. Especially once I was released from hospital bedrest where I endured 4 weeks of horrible, no choice hospital food.

My husband set me up with a mini fridge, microwave, and toaster oven on a small table about 1 1/2 feet from the bed, so I just swing my legs over and can prepare a small meal fairly easily. That said though, most of what I eat has been cooked by DH or my mom who keep me stockpiled in chicken chili, pastas and vegetables. Otherwise, I have hummus and pita bread, bagels and cream cheese, cereal, baked chips and crackers, uncrustables (b/c I can't be bother to MAKE the PBJ - hee [IMG] potato salad, both fresh fruit and fruit and gel cups, and most anything else that's easy to grab and ready to go.

Thank you, Karen! I have become obsessed about getting enough food groups!

BTW, I should have said I am officially on modified bedrest, but not on strict, so the "grab and go" concept is really helpful.

    You have a great set-up!
