So, I was wondering what you all bought (or have) two of? And what you only needed one thing for. I have 4 other children, so some of the things we already had, but some of the stuff we bought another of. We have bought extra clothes, we bought another crib, pack n play, swing, infant car seat, bouncy seat, we already have 2 high chairs. The only thing I can think of that I only have one of is the baby bathtub. Am I going overboard? Just curious! Thanks!
We had two high chairs, two swings, two bouncers, two cribs, two pack n plays. We only had one activity center/jumper thing, one dresser, one tub. We definitely used our two of everything, but you can hold off on the second swing, bouncer, and pack n play until you know you need them.
We bought two of the following: Crib Bouncer (we had 4, 2 for each floor) Swings high chairs car seats exersaucers A lot of the items, we bought the second used. I bought the high chair for $10 and the exersaucer for $5.
A good bit of what we had was hand-me-downs, but we had two: bassinets (hand-me-downs - I wouldn't have bothered otherwise) cribs swings bouncers carseats activity mats (two different ones) one each of an exersaucer and jumperoo baby bjorns (hand-me-downs that we didn't actually use and eventually passed along to other friends) pack and plays high chairs (the kind that strap to a chair due to limited space) bottle warmers (I burned one out heating two bottles in a row, which you weren't supposed to do, so we had to trash that one and got two separate ones) We had two hand-me-down baby tubs, but I never used them - I just used the sink and a small wash basin until they were big enough to sit up. I think that's about it.
2 cribs, highchairs and carseats. Everything else 1 of. I alternated them. While 1 was in the swing, the other was in the bouncy chair and so on. I did have 2 boppy pillows too. I used them to help them sit.
We didn't buy everything, some are gifts and hand me downs from friends, but there's a LOT of stuff. We have 2 bouncers - those are usefull if you try to bottle feed them at once, you put the babies in them in front of the couch facing the couch, you sit on the floor in between them with your back against the couch and you fead both babies - so I would say 2 bouncers are a must for this purpose, but they also take naps in them at times, or they sit in those when we have our dinner, this way they look at us and we interact with them during our dinner. - 2 car seats, 2 cribs, 2 bumbo chairs, 2 high chairs- we aren't really using those too much yet. - one jumperoo and one excersaucer. - 1 swing - we bought one thinking we'll buy the second one if we need it and we realized we are OK with just the one, we alternate them in between the swing and the bouncers. - 2 different activity mats/gyms. - one pack and play and one cradle (or not sure how it's called it looks like a smaller crib and it rocks) downstairs and they alternate between those during the day. - 2 bottle warmers - one upstairs and one downstairs - we do 2 bottles in a row and so far, so good. - 2 diaper pails - because we received one as a gift after we had bought one, and we figured we will keep one upstairs one downstairs, we never used the one, we only are using the one upstairs. We have our changing table upstairs and we planned to put one downstairs also but so far we didn't need it, we are OK with just the one. - 1 baby tub. - 1 Dr Brown formula mixer - it's one of the most used items, it mixes the formula really easy and I recommend it if you need to supplement with formula. One is enough if both babies are on the same formula. - 2 containers where you put nipples and tops for the bottles to put in the dishwasher. In conclusion, between all the toys and the baby gear, our house looks like a Babies R'Us threw up in there .
We have only one crib and then a pack and play. We only have two car seats, and two bumbos. We plan on getting two high chairs... We have one bouncer and one swing an thought maybe each baby will like just one and if we need another of something we will get it then. We will put them in one crib until we need another.. But after reading this I feel we may need more duplicate things.. Oh we also have two diaper bags..one tub and diaper pail.. Hmmm we ate first time moms and having twins so really new to all this gear.
We had: 2 cribs 2 PNPs 2 swings 2 bouncy seats 2 carseats 2 highchairs (although we just had the booster high chairs that sit on chairs) 1 bath tub 1 exersaucer 1 jumperoo 1 playmat
The most useful "2 of" I had was my boobs. Could not have done it with just one! We only had 2 high chairs, car seats, bouncy chairs and cribs, some toys of course we had two of (presents etc...) but they slept in one PnP for their entire toddlerhood whenever we would have to sleep anywhere else than home. In retrospect I think 2 mobywraps or 2 slings would have been a good idea, we used a babybjoern and it was a torture device for everyone involved. M.
I was attached to my EZ 2 Nurse pillow and would freak out when we'd leave without it, so at 5 months old I bought another. They have 2 cribs, 2 highchairs & tons of clothes but everything else was very manageable with 1.
