My very good friend is on bedrest. She is 31.5 weeks pregnant with g/g twins. She is MISERABLE!!!!! I totally remember that feeling when i was on bedrest. Anyway, I don't live in the same state as her, but I am going to be in town for an afternoon and I am going to visit with her. What can I bring or do for her when I go to visit??? Any ideas?

Maybe get her a netflix membership for a month (if she already doesn't have one) I wasn't on bedrest but I was pregnant at the height of a very hot summer and couldn't go out due to the heat and Netflix was a lifesaver for me. I always had a good movie to watch and I could go online and pick movies whenever I wanted. A few good books are always a nice thing to have if she likes to read.

A Spa in a Basket might be nice as well, some nice lotion, some bath salts, etc etc. I felt so icky when I was that far along, it would have been nice to have some pampering!

I remember that feeling!! I loved it when people brought me crossword puzzle books, Soduku books, good smelling lotions, those hand held massagers, stuff to do manicures/pedicures, DVD's or videos, latest magazines, anything to keep my mind off of what was really going on!! [IMG]

Bring her some take out from her favorite place that she can't get to and just talk to her!! She's going to love having someone to talk to!!

Maybe a basket of stuff. Fun stuff and stuff for after the baby!! Offer to give her a home done pedicure or just a foot massage. Go to the body shop and get some peppermint foot bath and cream and then have her soak for just a min. or two and you can use the cream to rub her feet.

Get her a really racy novel that she can lose herself in and have a few thrills from [IMG]

Have fun and make her laugh!

Food that her husband can easily pop in the oven. I was really tired of takeout and DH's best attempts with frozen dinners. [IMG] Also, some magazines or puzzle books.

I was on bedrest for about 6 weeks. A couple of my friends brought me prepared meals from Let's Dish...it's a place where you go and prepare a bunch of meals that can be frozen and then all you have to do is pop them in the oven...this was fabulous for DH and it helped us to still eat healthy since I couldn't get up to cook. I know there are several places around the country like Let's Dish, but with different names. Also, I had friends who brought food over that they had made for me to eat at lunch since DH was at work most of the time. It sounds like all I think about is food, but it was one of my biggest concerns while on bedrest...I wanted to maintain my health for the babies[IMG] Actually, another thing I really enjoyed was watching all the seasons of Grey's Anatomy and I re-watched nearly all of the "Friends" episodes. Maybe there is a TV series she hasn't seen that she'd be interested in watching...Lost? Sex in the City? 24?

More of those companies that let you pre-prepare meals are Dream Dinners, What's for Dinner and Entrees. I agree. We ordered them from our local one (What's for Dinner in Fargo, ND) and they made them for us, so my hubby just had to stop by there to pick them up. Now with two little ones to care for and both my DH and me working full time, we still eat many What's for Dinner meals each month.

One other thing - a friend taught me how to knit. She brought me some needles and a few nice soft yarns and helped me make baby sweaters, booties, etc. If you knit or crochet, that is something GREAT to share.

I agree w/all pps - these are all great. If there's a special food treat she likes; a particular kind of fruit, or chocolate, or something....I'mm currently 31 weeks on bedrest and especially find a nice foot rub wonderful, even though I'm not on my feet all day, they still hurt.

and maybe a sort of 'free pass' for her to complain all she wants about it, w/out feeling like she's being whiny or a baby....Just being there with her and allowing her all her to express all her emotions.

Also love the idea of nice-smelling lotions and maybe some soft socks for when she's in the hospital. I also am going through Grey's Anatomy like crazy and books are always great.

I also had someone call and ask if I wanted visitors and what they could do for me and I shamelessly said a meal so DH doesn't have to cook would be great, and - if you're up for some laundry folding...WEll, she came and brought enough home-cooked food for two meals folded two HUGE baskets of laundry, and it was so nice for DH too, because he had been doing it but suddenly now had to fold it also and now it was all done.

What a good friend you are!
