    Hello Mama's

Just wondering what brand of formula you use and why?

I am from Canada so hopefully we have some of the same brands!

    Hi there...

I'm so glad you posted this because I was wondering this myself. My b/g twins are 7 wks. I bf and supplement. For baby girl I use Enfamil because that's what they gave us at the hospital. I just switched to Good Start for baby boy because he seemed uncomfortable (noisy, restless, kicking) after taking the Enfamil.

I'll be anxious to see what the other mommies say.

good start was the only formula out of about 10 different ones that didnt make DD1 puke or constipated, so we used it again with the twinks

I'm from Canada too so some of the formula's mentioned by others I've never heard of. I mainly BF's but my twins were of Enfamil to start because they were premies - it was a higher calorie formula. Once they were off that I switched to Good start!

I thought it would be a great thread to start as there's so many different brands and mainly because a lot of people think what the hospital uses, they *should* use too.

However, I work at a hospital and in the maternity ward, so I can tell you that quite honestly, they use/push whatever brand they receive for free from drug rep's and/or whomever they have contracts with. Doesn't mean it's the best for baby whatsoever!! (Same with what brand of diapers hospitals use, or vitamin D drops, etc)

So hopefully mom's know that......... :)

So I was curious to see if a lot of ppl researched this (brands) and found what was 'one of the best' choices.

we started on Similac because that was what the hospital had (24 calorie) and we had to mix the powder stronger for the first month...after that we tried Good Start and the only thing that worked wound up being Isomil - I HATED Enfamil - it didn't mix very well at all for me and remained lumpy even after running it through the blender!

We use Similac because they received Similac Neosure in the hospital. It was not a matter of thinking we *should* use it, but rather a matter of being happy with the formula and wanting to stick with a brand we trusted. We have used several different Similac products and it has worked for us. While store brands do meet minimum standards, we really felt that formula was the right thing to splurge on.

Likewise, the hospital used Pampers Swaddlers, they didn't leak, so we used them at home too. When the babies grew, we switched to Target brand since we got a better fit from those than from the Pampers Cruisers.

I'm out of the formula phase, but we used GoodStart and we loved it! I tried Enfamil and Similac, but this is what worked for us.

We started with Enfamil premium, but eventually ended up on Nutramigen (tried soy in between - that is when we realized our guys are MSPI - milk and soy protein intolerant). So for us, there is no choice right now and we have to use the Nutramigen, which is made by Enfamil. We tried a soy and dairy test about 2 weeks ago and still no go - we just have to wait for them to outgrow it. We also can't use powder, only premixed. No one seems to know why that is, but I have tried to switch to powder on several occasions and can tell the difference immediately (and not a good difference!).

We only used formula as a supplement so we switched around a bit seeing which one they would like the best. They did the best on Good Start or Similac Sensitive (the lactose free, not the soy). My DS was very picky and would refuse bottles if it was not breastmilk or one of these two.

We started off on Similac Advanced (that's what the hospital had) and then switched to Similac Sensitive (non-soy) which helped with gas and belly issues.

We started with enfamil enfacare cause the were preemies but after a while it really was upsetting DS stomach so at the advice of our Dr we switched to goodstart protect plus and eventually switched DD over once she was at a good weight!

we used enfamil premium lipil because that's what their pediatrician recommended. but then as they got older (they are 9.5 months now) i started trying different brands, whichever was on sale because enfamil is pretty expensive. i didn't like gerber goodstart because it clumps really easily. now i buy either CVS brand or target brand versions of enfamil premium. CVS brand is only $14.99 per 23.4 ounce can and target's is $11.99. and they never had any tummy issues with either of them so i assume they're fine!
