Our babies aren't here yet, but I hope to breastfeed and eventually pump and feed via bottles too since I have to go back to work by 12wks pp.

What bottles do you guys recommend? There are SO SO many! :icon_eek:

I loved the Dr. Browns. My boys had reflux and they helped them tremendously with the air and gas issue. I used Playtex drop-ins for a bit too before we switched. They were nice, but it is hard to figure out how much they are taking when the liner starts to collapse as they drink.

But I would not buy too many of one kind of bottle. They (babies) are really picky about what type of bottle and nipple they like. Lots of us have gone through many a bottle to find just the "right" one. :)

I hope the rest of your pregnancy is healthy and uneventful :hug99:

I thought we'd be able to get some bottles and the girls would use them. I was wrong. I suggest only getting a few of each kind to try out so you don't waste a lot of money. We tried the playtex drop-ins, which were really good for Meara's gas, but the nipples were too big for Ana's tiny mouth. For her eventually we used the old-school Gerber ClearView bottles (3 for $5 at Target). Eventually both used the Gerbers because buying the drop-ins for the Playtex was getting expensive. GL with the rest of your pregnancy!

I agree, you shouldn't spend too much on one kind of bottle at first until you know what kind the babies like best.

    I'm currently using these: http://www.target.com/Gerber-5-oz-Premium-...tles&page=1

They're Gerber 5 oz bottles. We went through a couple different bottles and nipples before we found one that worked best for them. I recently purchased the larger [8 oz] bottles for future usage [seeing that the girls are already eating 4 oz every two hrs!! They are little tanks I tell ya!]

Good luck finding the right one! :)

My boys have always done very well with the Avent. I bought these because I also intended to bf and eventually express bm and they are supposed to be great with that. Well, I only bf for a week, and then switched to formula but the avent bottles are great. They leak sometimes, and as these are my first babies and the only bottles I've ever tried, I don't know if its common, but its usually because me or DF didn't tighten teh bottle right.

But I do swear by these as I have never had a problem with spit up or gassy babies!! I don't know if its the bottle or the babies, but I won't use anything else!

Exactly like DATJ, we started with drop-ins and moved to the Dr. Brown's. We liked the idea of the easy wash system, but never knew how much was in there. Switched to Brown's because of reflux.

My friend loves the Playtex Air Vent, but her kids had no gas, reflux problems of any kind.
The Dr. Brown's aren't that bad to clean, just a lot of parts, but we bought a lot of them so we only had to do one
big wash in the morning that would last the entire day and night feedings!

    Good luck!

After coming home from the NICU, we continued to use the bottles the EBM was stored in with a Gerber nipple. After they started taking more than 2.5 ounces at a time, we switched to Playtex Drop-Ins and we continue to use those now. I buy the Target brand liners because they are significantly cheaper than the Playtex brand. Also, I just loosen the cap/nipple to let a little air in and then I'm able to see how much they've eaten. Then I can tighten it back up and continue to feed as usual.

We use the Born Free ones, and they've been fine. My only complaint is that they have a lot of parts--so the washing is a bit of a pain; but it's workable. You can also use them to store EBM, which I did for a while. Good luck and congrats!

We love the playtex drop ins. Easy to clean and use.

We use Dr. Browns. I had no clue either when I was pg so I saw that Consumer Reports ranked them the highest and that's what our pedi recommended also. I've heard that babies sometimes reject bottles but we didn't have that problem.

We use the Born Free and Mam's. Like pp said, the B.F. have more parts to wash and the Mam's can leak at the bottom if not screwed on properly.

We went through a lot of bottles. Started off the Playtex Ventaire. There is a vent at the bottom that has this extra part and for us, it was a pain. Then we tried Avent. Did not like those. Plus after hearing about BPA (both the ventaire & avent have bpa) it gave us a reason to switch.

What we have now and have not had one single leak is Walmart's Parent's Choice bottles. They were $2.97 for a set of 3. They come with slow-flow nipples and a pack of 3 fast-flows was about $1.97 and they are BPA free.

We used mostly Playtex drop-ins with Parent's Choice liners when there were two of us around to feed them individually. After 6 weeks I had them by myself most days and used the Podee hands-free bottles whenever I was alone. The girls now prefer the Podees and don't want anything else.
