What bottles did/do you use and how did you choose?

Just curious about bottles and how you picked what you would use. When my girls were born we had Playtex, Avent and some other ones at home that people had bought us that were all in the packaging. When they came home from the NICU, they used the NICU nipples for like 3 months b/c I couldn't get them to use anything else. After I got them off the NICU nipples (just attached to cheap-o WalMart generic bottles) we were still able to use just the generic brand bottles. I never had to worry about the more expensive bottles or all the parts to take off and clean like with Dr. Brown's, etc.

With a new baby on the way, I'm curious! My girls got so attached to the NICU nipples (which are very similar to generic brand nipples) that we got off pretty cheap as far as bottles were concerned. Assuming that we are only having one this time and will be brining (hopefully) baby home from the hospital....what bottles should I get? Will this baby just take to whatever I start out with? Or is it not that simple?

I decided to register for several different types of bottles, and wound up getting NONE! So I got Playtex drop ins (easier to clean from my POV) and my son took right to them - used the silicone nipples...my daughter was difficult to feed in the beginning so I wound up with Avent's for her for the first 3 months because the nipples were stiffer and would "pop" through her jaws (she had this terrible habit of sticking out her tongue and closing her jaws when we tried to feed her)...after 3 months she would drink out of the Playtex as well....so I now have a cellarful of Playtex bottles!

I registered for Dr Browns and got those plus some others. My girls battled reflux and gas issues and we tried them all to see which worked best for them. They refused to use latex nipples and ultimately the Dr Browns worked best. I didn't find the extra parts that big of a deal, honestly. Sure it was a few more minutes to clean but well worth it for happier babies.

I loved our Dr. Browns bottles. The girls had reflux and were gassy without them, and they seemed to be helped using Dr. Browns. Also, I agree, the extra parts aren't that big a deal. I just threw all the parts into a sink of hot, soapy water, let sit, and rinsed the little parts, while the bigger stuff (the actual bottle) were cleaned with a bottle brush.

I registered for the playtex drop ins and I loved them. I didn't want the stress of cleaning the bottles, this way I just throw away the liners. I also wanted to BF so I got the playtex nurser drop ins, they're suppost to help keep a baby BFing. I don't know if it really works that way or not, I never BFed. My girls never really had any gas with these bottles either, and the best thing is they don't leak.

I chose the Avent bottles because I had seen my sister and my friend use them. I read about Dr. Brown's here on TS and recommended them to my sister. She has been using them and it turned out her son had reflux so they probably were the best bottles for her. With Liam, we stuck with the AVENT no sense letting all those bottles go to waste.

I always loved the playtex drop ins so that is what i chose to use and both babies have done great with them. :) They are so easy to clean and not so many parts... :)

We started out with the Avent ones. But one of my girls was colicy, so I read on here to try Dr. Brown's. Worked like a charm (that and gripe water). In fact, I told my friend who just had a baby about it when she told me that her daughter sometimes cried and she couldn't soothe her. She called me yesterday and said that the Dr. Brown's worked. I've decided that even though we don't use them anymore, I'm going to keep them around like an old friend!

I use the VentAire ones now. They seem to be good. The Dr. Browns ARE annoying to clean and put together when you're in a rush to feed the babies. But they were worth the trouble for me. And I didn't find them to be THAT much more expensive.

Anyway, I guess you should try what worked the first time and go from there!

I first used Avent, but quickly got rid of those b/c they wouldn't stop leaking. Then I went to the Gerber one you can get at the grocery store or walmart. I tried Dr. Browns and those worked fine but I got sick of cleaning all the parts. Now we are on the Playtex airvent bottles. They work great, no leaking. Since the babies want to sit up now when they eat, they work well b /c they have the curved neck.
We just kept trying different ones until we found some that worked.

All three of our girls use(d) Dr. Brown's. Lots of pieces to wash, but they had a lot of gas issues that they didn't get with these bottles.

We used the generic Target (Circo, I think) brand bottles and the Playtex Avent ones, both worked well. The girls did not mind when they were switched up...plus the Target ones came in 3 packs that for a while were on sale for about $3.50.

I chose Playtex Ventaire as I liked them with my daughter.

With my daughter, I had already tried Avent and Dr. Brown's and wasn't super happy with either of those.

The girls started out drinking from those little bottles in the NICU. We came home with very few of those. I had registered for the Playtex drop-ins and it seemed like it took them forever to eat. So I had some Playtex Ventair in the house too and got those ready to try. Well the smaller ventair nipples sealed shut when I sterlized them for the first time. So after that I picked up some Dr. Browns bottles and they ate so much better and we used them till they stopped bottles. I really didn't find cleaning them that bad and after a few months of all the washing I started putting them through the dishwasher and that became even easier.
