Hello: I have 5 week old twin girls who I am breastfeeding and giving pumped bottles to. I am having a hard time with my girls getting very gasy and uncomfortable during bottle feedings. We were using Medela 4 oz bottles with nuk nipples and then switched to drop=ins with the nurser nipple. Neither have worked for us. Does anyone have a reccommendation for a bottle/ nipple that may help? My girls cry during feedings and it is breaking my heart!

I second the Dr. Browns recommendation! They have worked great for us as well!

Count me in on the Dr. B wagon, too. Definately helped with gas. We tried several others just because we had them. The Dr. B's were by far the best for us.

ETA: to fix annoyingly bad typo. :)

I'm a big fan of the Born Free bottles!

I used to have Dr Brown, but switched because they had BPA... I use born free now too. They're easier to grasp, wider, so I like them much better. The nipples are much softer though, but I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing as it's closer to the breast...

I completely sympathize! We went through a ton of types of bottles! One liked playtex and the other liked advent. I think I have 5 different types of bottles, but never tried Dr. Browns. Our problem wasn't gas it was just the nipple they were picky about. The good news is that now they like all of the bottles and I have a ton! :) Good luck!

We also use the Dr. Browns. Both babies had a lot of gas (even with the playtex drop ins and regular burping) and Dr B's fixed that problem. They also have a BPA free version of the 8oz bottle.

We were using the Playtex Drop-ins, but switched to the BPA free Dr. Browns. The Playtex ones drove me nuts with measuring the water and not knowing how much they drank. I don't mind the Dr. Browns at all. There are extra parts to clean, but it doesn't bother me at all.

I also recently switch to Dr. Brown's from Playtex drop ins. It has really helped with the gas.

One question, does anyone know if it's okay to substitute the nipple on the Dr. brown's bottles for different ones? Will that affect the way the bottles work?

My two have only really like the drop-ins (but I hated those after I stopped pumping- they are great for pumping though) and avent. We still use Avent.
