My girlfreind has newborn twins and is going crazy with bottles. She has wasted so much money already on Playtex and now on Avent (even though I warned her about the Avent).

She can't take the leaking anymore and was crying in the middle of the night as the bottles leaked all over her little sweeties not once but TWICE!!!! She did everything she was suppose to do (as recommended by the Avent reps and me) and still they were leaking. She has new nipples on them and they are still leaking.

    What bottle do you use?

    Do they leak?

How are they in terms of preventing bubbles and gas?

What are the positives and negatives about your bottle?

    TIA!!

 Poor momma! I would be crying too!!!
We used the playtex curved bottles. { I can't remember the names  } I haven't had any problems with them. Since you already mentioned she tried them, I'm sorry I don't have any better advice on bottles. Hope she finds one that doesn't leak!

We have two types of bottles, "leak out of the top" (Avent) and "leak out of the bottom" (Playtex VentAire).

    Good luck!

We used Dr. Browns with the twins, and although they would leak in the diaper bag, I never had them leak on the babies but one time. I used the Platex Drop-in bottles with my other kids and didn't have problems with them either, and they are much easier to clean.

I hope she comes to visit us soon! Give her a hug for us!

I use the avent bottles and I have no problems with them. Don't over tighten them, that should solve the leaking problem.

I use the Avent bottles but not the drop in kind. We had one and liked it but DH can't fit his hand up there to squish the air out. We tried the ventaire and they only have slow and fast flow nipples. Well slow is too slow for DS and fast is wayyyy too fast. We really like the regular Avent though!

What bottle do you use? Dr. Brown

Do they leak? Haven;t had the problem, but some of my friends have

How are they in terms of preventing bubbles and gas? That's what they are designed for, preventing bubbles and gas.

What are the positives and negatives about your bottle? My boys like the shape and the softness of the nipple, there's no built up air pressure and they really do help with gas. The only negative would be the many peices that need cleaning!

Our second choice would be the Avents, but the nipple is a bit harder on teething gums and ours did have a leaking problem. HTH!!

We also use the Avent bottles (not the drop in's). They only leak if you don't get the lid on *just* right. I've noticed that I have to hear it click while I'm twisting it on (I know that makes NO sense) or else it'll dribble all over the place. DH puts them on so tight that I can't get it off when I wash them.

Sorry I can't be of any more help. I've paid so much for them, so I'm not switching. But, I do hear Dr. Brown's area really good.

  9. I used Podees. They have straw like rubber tubes going from the bottle to the nipple so the baby can drink freely without holding the bottle. This saved my life when the twins were really little. I had a feeding routine that really made things easier (especially in the middle of the night). I would put the twins in their car seats and put the bottles at their sides and the nipples in their mouths. They would drink and I would sit between the two of them, rubbing their heads and kissing them. (I still wanted to bond with them.) This way they both got to eat at the same time too making it possible to keep to a schedule.
My pediatrician loved them because she said it gave the babies less air in their stomachs.
The Podees came in very handy while shopping too. I could let them drink while I pushed the stroller. Everyone would stop me and ask where I got the Podees. You can find them on Ebay or there are a few online sites but I've never seen them in stores. They are very inexpensive too....maybe $4.00 each.
    Good Luck.....

I mix and match my bottles because Ive tried different ones. My findings are those silicone nipples are a pain in the butt and cause more leaking than anything. I use the rubber nipples and rings that the hospital gave us (which was a crap load) and now use any bottle I choose.
If she can get her hands on some rubber nipples it might help. I havent seen them in stores tho, just silicone.

Do they leak? Never had them leak

How are they in terms of preventing bubbles and gas? Great - they are the only ones that I have ever used

What are the positives and negatives about your bottle? Some people say that are hard to clean - I just put them on water after the girls eat and them wash them when I get to it.

I use Dr. Brown's as well and haven't ever had a problem - well, except for the time they leaked in the diaper bag, but I bought traveling caps/lids and they've been great!

We use Dr. Brown's and really love them. As long as you don't fill them above the line indicated, they don't leak...or I haven't had a spill yet. They are made to reduce gas.

Playtex Drop Ins. We used the Avent with our first and they leaked ALL of the time. I tried everyting with them & still they leaked. We then tried the Dr. Browns..they leaked too & you had to clean the different parts...UGH! Finally we switched to dropins..love them!! I use them now with my twins. I posted a question about them though a few days ago - got a little confused on the amt they hold...crazy momma brain :) Good luck..there are sooo many choices.

We have a variety of bottles that we got from our showers (ventair, dr. brown, gerber) and they do pretty well with all of them. We even had the avent and soothie ones in 4 and 5 oz, but we liked the avent ones least. The ones we've had best luck with is the dr. brown bottles - they do have less gas w/those and we have never had them leak. So we bought some extra ones, cuz we like to use those as much as possible. We don't have a dishwasher, so it's extra parts to clean, but I think it's worth it.

We use Dr. Browns and have never had a leak problem for Noah. Playtex Ventaire (curved neck) for Jacob and never had leaking from the bottom.

The trick with Avent is to assemble the nipple when it is wet and not overtighten. We only used Avent and never had a problem with them leaking.

we use the Playtex Vent Aire bottles, they are designed to prevent bubbles, so therefore, less gas. ( I don't know how true that is, my babies
were pretty gassy the first 6 months of their life!) They only leak from the bottom if you don't put in the silicone part in right and twist the bottom cap right. Other than that, they are pretty good bottles, only downside is there are lots of parts to wash! ;)

We use Dr Browns and love them. We have never had a leak problem. Like one PP said, they did leak when they tipped over in the diaper bag, but we started using the screw on lids and only putting them together when it was time for a feeding when we were traveling with the bottles. I've never had them leak on the babies. Plus, everyone raves about them, and I can't hear enough good things ... so that's why we went with them. And I'm glad we did. The kids love them!

I have the vent aire bottles. I used them with my girls and had no problems (they would leak from the bottom if you didn't put it together right). Now 4yrs later I got more vent aire for my son and they leaked a lot from the bottom no matter what we did. When we called them they said they changed the bottles and now they leak when used for so long (basically they made bottles that you would have to buy more after a while). They did send us more bottom pieces for free but they said we would have to buy them next time. So I would never recomend them to anyone anymore.

My sil has Dr. Brown and they were ok. It did leak a little on me from the nipple part but that only happened once to me and it was so little I thought it was coming from her mouth not the bottle until I looked closer (I watch her daughter while she works). They have a couple of pieces to them but atleast they don't leak through the bottom like the other bottle.

I tried all different bottles, too- my girls were really picky about nipples- I use the Dr. Brown's bottles- they're kind of a pain to wash, with all the different pieces, but they don't ever leak for me. Good luck!
