I'm also dying to know which seat folks are using. I tried to look up the recommendations on when to switch and I think you're supposed to wait until the kids are at least 40 pounds and at least 40 inches tall and at least 4 years old. My boys are not even 3, yet, and they are already 36 pounds. I don't know what I'm going to do when they his 40 pounds (I'm guessing in 6 months or so) and outgrow their current carseats.

My 6 year old has the Graco Turbobooster. We got it for her when she was 4.5 years old. You don't use booster's until, like PP said, 4 years and 40 lbs., or something like that. There are also booster seats for toddlers that have a 5 point harness for 20 lbs. and up. They do convert then, you take the straps out, to using the lap belt as a booster, the instructions say that can be done at 30 lbs., we did not do it that early. The Graco turbobooster does not have a 5 point harness it is just used with the lap belt.

We did have the Cosco Eddie Bauer booster, that was the 5 point harness like I mentioned above, for her when she was around 2 years old.

Graco Turbo booster with the back can be used at 30 lbs, 3 years... we did that. When they are 4 and 40 you can use just the bottom part and take off the back, we did that too.

We also have eddie bauer high back boosters that have a removeable 5 point harness, you can remove the harness and use that at 30lbs too, which is what we just did for DS#2.

We use the Fisher Price Healthy Care ones. They were about $25 each at Target. We take them on trips, to grandparents, etc. They fold up nicely and are easy to clean.

I've used these daily since the boys were 6 months old -- they are 20 months now. They now use them to sit at the table with us.

Oops, I totally thought you meant carseat boosters. We have the safety first ones. This is what we've used all along, never got highchairs, same with my oldest DD too, the highchairs take up too much room.

We never used one. Our highchairs lowered to table height, and we did that at around 18 months. By 2 1/2 they were using the regular chairs and we took away the highchairs.

[IMG] [IMG] We switched to booster seats when they were around 20 months. I just bought the $10 ones from Wal-mart. I liked them because they had a little 3-point seat belt on them for restraint and they strapped securely to the chair as well. They still weren't as restraining as the high chairs but the boys liked to be able to climb up and down on their own. One warning, though, is that they did damage the finish on my chairs so if you're worried about that, just place some sort of padding down underneath of the boosters.

I want to sit my twins at the table with booster seats without the trays but most of the conventional booster seats will not fit under my table. Does anybody have any ideas about that?

That's odd. Are your chairs the right height for your table? Maybe try some folding (or other) chairs?

We also have the Fisher Price ones. And even more portable ones (the inflatable ones by The First Years. I prefer the FP ones and it seems the girls do too.

We started using them regularly around 20 months, I think. I wanted them to start sitting at the table.

Devon-The safety first ones that I have do fit under our table without the trays on. We got ours at Toys R Us.

This is the one I have.

We used this kind when they needed them.

It was so versitile. We had them sit and play in them when they were very little, and as soon as I started spoon feeding them, is when I started using them at the table. At that time, we just strapped them to the chairs at the table, and tucked the chairs under (couldn't leave the tray on it to tuck under). They tip back to be able to help your baby not lean too far forward.

After the boys got done using the tray part and wanted to be "big boys" and eat with us at the table, they worked perfectly for height! And there's 2 levels of height for that purpose as well.

I thought it was well worth the money.

I have this First Years Booster Seat. You can get them just about anywhere. I never bought the traditional high chairs...and even if we had a singleton in the future, I still woudln't. No room and the boosters work just fine. Unfortunately, the First Year ones that we have don't fold down well for travel (that's the one mistake we made with them and didn't realize it at the time). So, I went to Burlington Coat Factory (Baby Depot) and got the My Chair Booster & Activity Seat to keep in the car to take to the grandparents, etc. This seat is just now perfect for them. It sits a bit low, so when they were smaller the table was TOO high for them to reach. At 20 months though, it's getting to be perfect! These chairs fold up into their own little travel bag (just like the camping chairs you can buy for adults) and they are cheap and VERY transportable. We love them!

Mine have never used high chairs. We had some reclining boosters that we have used. We also have a fold up style from when DD was little. Luckily I lived many states away when she was little cause my mom got one just like it so we had 2 when the boys came around.

We used these booster seats that Fisher Price made that were plastic and very easy to fold up and take along with you. We switched them from the high chairs to the boosters at about 18 months. In hindsight we never should have gotten high chairs and shouldhave just used these, they were great!
