What books do you wish you read before you delivered?

I am preparing as much as possible for the arrival of these two, and wondering what books you found helpful pre-partum, or wished that you HAD read before you had your babies.

    Many thanks!

i wish I read the Weisbluth book (Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby - or something) and Ready or Not Here we Come by Elizabeth Lyons. The latter book is an easy read, the Weisbluth book is not one you read cover to cover, more skim it...and come back to it.

I also wish I read all those novels I wanted to read [IMG]

I wish that I had gotten the book, What to Expect the First Year, before I had the twins. I didn't get it until they were like 4 months old. When I went back and read the first couple of months, I was cursing myself cause I was really lost those first few months and that book has such GREAT information, suggestions, and help. I think it would have made my life a lot easier those first few months. Oh well. I winged it and in the end, we are all still alive [IMG]

    What's helped us the most:
"Happiest Baby on the Block" DVD
and "Good Night Sleep Tight" by Kim West aka Sleep Lady.
The first year book that our pedi gave us at our interview.

Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth
Ready or Not Here We Come by Elizabeth Lyons
The Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg

No book is perfect, but I took things that worked from each of these books.

Yes, read Ready or Not Here We Come before delivering.
Skim Weisbluth's HSHHC and Kim West's Good Night Sleep Tight, but make sure to refer to these two every month after the twins are born. In the midst of all the things we were dealing with in the beginning, I forgot what I had read and wish I had read their age-appropriate chapters as they were happening. Sleep is such a big issue for most families. If you can nip problems in the bud or just make good changes at the right time, then you will be all the better for it (and hopefully less sleep deprived).

    Happy Reading!
