I just made bananas this morning. I'm so excited!! How long do you think I can keep them in the fridge? 2 days?

What other foods are simple to make that I simply need to add water and puree?

If I make green beans, limas, squash, etc...I just need to steam and puree, right? Do you ever need to add anything else?

    Thanks so much!

The bananas will trun brown if you keep them in the frigde. I think it is ok to eat them, but they look yucky. I'd freeze them and then de-thaw waht you want them to eat.

The veggies are easy to make too. Wash them, steam them, and puree. Use the water that you steam them in to puree. The water contains lots of vitamins and minerals that come out during steaming.

    Way to go Mom

Hi there. I have never been very handy in the kitchen, but I really liked making baby food!

You can bake acorn and butternut squash in the oven (just add a bit of water to a 9x13 pan and bake until soft) and then puree it, cook down apples and pears on the stove until they fall apart and then puree it. As the babies get older, you can do these things and just mash them as much as they need. I also poached chicken and turkey and then used the cheese grater to grate it up really fine so I could add it to whatever they are eating that day.

Believe it or not, beets was the biggest hit (and the messiest!!) I just boiled them and pureed them.

I found it was easy and really cost effective - a great thing when you are feeding 2!

BTW, I stirred the apples and pears into their cereal in the morning and they love it!

    Have fun!

Just about the only thing I have made is sweet potatoes, but I just cut them in chunks, boiled them, added water, and pureed. They seem to prefer them mixed with applesauce.

The site wholesomebabyfood.com has a lot of great information, both about what to feed them when, and how to prepare it.

^ Yep, WholesomeBabyFoods has a lot of preperation and storage advice. I like making my own baby food, it's easy and I think they like it better than jarred.
